I had approached her about doing a bass for me with a New Orleans Voodoo theme (she lived there for years) ... stops traffic where ever I take it.

Ohhh, see. That's the thing about pointy basses.
It's really easy to cut yourself on them.

That's really awesome. How much did it cost you, if you don't mind my asking?

Prices vary ... but figure around $300.00 from a blank body ... painted bodies like mine was, need to be prepped with a good scuffing with sandpaper. It takes several weeks for paint layering and the poly finsh. They have the feel of playing art as the natural ripples from the paint is covered with the outer finish. She works off a theme request and then just does her thing.


... I'm looking forward to seeing the Tiki Strat ...

That's not nearly as bad as I'd have thought. Does the paint chip off at all without a lacquer over it?

Mine has three coats of poly over the paint ... so it's well sealed


... Price wise yeah I considered it a fair price ... I expect it to go up as demand rises.

Love it! I never gave the idea of custom paint jobs on basses/guitars any thought – but now I'm thinking...

I'm a graphic artist, and am wondering about transfering computer generated art onto a bass body. I'm thinking iron-on may not be the way to go (heh, heh).
