I was originally going to post a topic regarding the ridiculous shrapnel-shaped heavy metal basses you see occasionally, but I'm also interested in the non-HM basses that you find to be impressive/disfigured/obnoxious/tryhard etc.

There's one in particular I wanted to see, and I'm pretty sure it was one of those gr1m nekro metal basses. It might have even been a non-bass guitar.

It looks like it has three necks, but it's just two extra weird support things on either side of the neck?

But I'm interested in seeing that and any other weird bass you've seen. Or even redirecting me to a previous thread that's similar...?

I like looking at *unusualy-shaped* basses as much as the next guy, so I'll offer some advice: if you want this thread to remain open, don't use the U-word* when describing these instruments. We're not allowed to call others' basses by that term- it starts fires.

+1, I don't think the word obnoxious flys either.

Dosn't anyone read the rules.... ugly threads are a no.

seriously, guys, is it really happening? this site is so pc that we can't state our personal opinion about an inanimate object?? key word in last sentence... OPINION. correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that the point of the forum? to share opinions? Man, I remember when it was cool to ruffle a few feathers. guess we can't have anyone crying cuz I think their bass is ugly, huh? pathetic. next it will be "no fail pics", because thats mean! or "no pics of girls in the crowd" cuz thats sexist. ridiculous. But then again, Just my OPINION. Take it or leave it.

UGLY BASS Threads - read before you post.
from here on out there will be no more ugly bass threads tolerated in the bass forums, unless you are posting about your own instrument.

too many folks participate here with too diverse a set of instruments for these kinds of threads to end up doing anything but pissing people off.

interesting thing - the folks with experience, who gig and who are in general serious about bass usually don't waste their talkbass time posting about basses they don't own, talking about how they find someone else's instrument to be ugly . something to emulate, folks.

so if you want to talk about an ugly bass, make sure it's one of your own, or it will be deleted.


EDIT(jt) : the bongo addendum this goes for posts too. you wanna call a bass a toilet seat, that bass better have a handle or else you better own one.

if you have a negative opinion about an instrument, be sure to tie it to something beyond the subjective appearance - "the body was uncomfortable for me to play" or "the neck was too round for me, felt like a baseball bat".

otherwise, if you find something ugly, say so if such an opinion is asked for, otherwise keep it to yourself. this isn't rocket science, guys. respect other folks' instruments.
