That's cool. I was just in NY over the weekend in Westchester County just outside NYC, it's where I grew up. Doing my morning walks around my former high school which has two lakes, there is a year-round population of Canada geese there. I saw multiple families with various aged goslings. These geese are so used to people you can walk between them at will (watching out for guano!) without them reacting. Most other places they'd chase you away and even attack. Not here.

These are cool with people but not up close, they won't run unless you move up fast, but if you just walk they will stay what they feel is a comfortable distance away. I've seen them give my little dog agita, but she's a lover not a fighter, so when they bow up she just retreats behind me and continues to scold them under her breath as she peeks out from behind my legs. .

Just returning from walking Tilda. Texas just has those anvil clouds and they're frequent this time of year.

Nothing says "Welcome to Detroit" like the bus ahead of you catching fire and burning completely.

The 2024 eclipse. Strangest thing I ever experienced. The photo below was taken by my son Alex down in Dallas around 1:40 in the afternoon. DFW was one of the best observing regions. The 2nd photo (bottom) I took at one of the many Plano Parks around 1:42PM.

We were living in NE Dallas then. I hiked up to Flag Pole Hill by White Rock Lake and joined a few hundred other eclipse chasers.

The moment totality hit, the whole place went dead quiet. People stopped talking. Kids stopped fidgeting. Even the dogs stopped doing whatever they were doing.

For about four minutes, it felt less like a mid afternoon and more like we'd all been summoned to something we weren't supposed to fully understand. Real Close Encounters stuff.
