So tempted to pull the trigger and expand to a bigger board which would allow for me to add in another fuzz, stick on my unused TU-2 and perhaps add an expression pedal. But for now I'm happily content with my current board, which hasn't changed much in the past couple of months.

How are you liking the EHX Knockout?

It's brilliant, probably the best buy I've made in terms of changing my overall sound for the better. I'm sure a couple people have asked about it in previous PYPB threads. It fattens up my tone, really tightens up the sound. When played with my BBM, it sounds incredible. There's a couple good youtube videos, which will hopefully explain what I've tried to say haha.

Ok, I couldn't wait. Here's an idea of what the my project board will look like when it is completed:

The signal path will go like this:

Bass - Planet Waves tuner - NS-2 (loop out) - Symetrix 501 - Pigtronix Disnortion (dirty output) - VT Bass - (loop input) NS-2 - SMMH (left input) / (clean output) - Octave Multiplexer - BSW - SMMH (right input) - M-80.

The left output (dirty) will go into an Ashly BP41 preamp running one channel of my Peavey IPR1600, and the M-80 (clean) will run the second channel. Each side will run one of my Tech21 B410 cabs; one filthy dirty and one fairly clean.

You can't see it very well, but there is a BBE Supa Charger under the 501.

As for the board, it's made out of 3/4" plywood, and I'm going to build an NYC Pedalboards-style lid/case for it. I'll spray it down with truck bed liner, and the top it all off with industrial-duty velcro.

There's a Knockout in the classifieds that I'm tempted by to help boost my low end after my dirt; does the KO do a good job at this?

still need some velcro to velcro things down and the bassballs to the flatliner. a bunch of pedals are powered by that and the others are powered by a godlyke powerall.

i need some right angle jacks too and to tidy it up a bit but this is how it is for the time being.

I didn't have a Moog before. The only ring mod I've ever had was an early Co-Pilot ring mod.

It certainly does. I used to think my BBM was pretty good, tried it with the Knockout and now I'm totally in love with it. Sounds so much bassier and ballsier. Definitely worth a shot.

Very nice. And coincidentally I've been thinking VERY hard the last few days about grabbing a Randy's Revenge. How are you liking it?

Its great so far. Does that traditional clean, cold ring mod sound well on sine mode, and dirties up allright with some OD in front or on square wave mode. The LPF control is amazing. I'd expected it to be useful, but I was surprised how much it does. With some heavy lowpassing, the thing puts out nice subharmonics. The fact that its running on 9V is pretty handy, I haven't found any carier bleedthrough (but I haven't plugged it into a distortion yet), and its really nicely put together.

My only complaint is that the square wave tremolo ticks a little when it goes from "on" to "off". Some low pass filtering takes this away, but it is there. I'm going to email the manufacturer and ask about this but ring mods are tricky effects to do well, so it could just be a side effect of getting the oscillators/etc optimized for ring modulation. I'd be more than happy to put up with a bit of a tick given all the things it does really well.
