Yeah, I had a rough idea of what MIDI was, but I had no idea it could be used to turn stomp boxes on and off!

For stompboxes that don't take MIDI already, you have to plug them into a box that will take MIDI. Each stompbox is in a loop of a MIDI effect looper, and you can send a MIDI message to the looper to turn on or off any combination of its loops.

All of the pedals are MIDI controlled and the Gordius Little Giant controls all of them and the rack gear. The only thing that gets stomped on besides it and the expression pedal and Boss footswitch that's attached to it is the Xotic X-Blender- all of the pedals and the Boss VF-1 are in the X-Blender's loop. There's a few things hidden from sight- there's one 4-loop MIDI pedal controller underneath the Pitchfactor, and there's another one underneath the rack gear- you can see it poking out behind the Bass Big Muff. Here's everything that's in it:

Thanks. Amazingly enough, a month ago there was an Eventide Eclipse in the rack. I decided to return it (and get a Pitchfactor) as I found the old Boss VF-1 more useful for my purposes. I may be the first person to ever do that

I'd always just assumed you kicked the upside down pedals instead of stomping... MIDI is actually slightly less awesome than I'd pictured.

I have to fetch a real fuzz soon, instead of that cranked ODB in the LS-2...
Any suggestions? I thought about picking up an El Grande or a Bass Big Muff... Its pretty hard to find good fuzzes in germany

And I need a Floor Tuner as well... But I think I'll choose the Pitchblack...

Yes I did.... It really helps to add a little more stage space. I used HDU for the board and routed spots for each pedal. Now all I need is a case!

A new, bright-red pedal showed up yesterday to possibly replace my bright-blue one. Which will survive to earn a permanent industrial velcro attachment to my board? We shall know very soon!

Ashame about the Eclipse, but know that feeling!
I did similar (in quite a short time) but going in the following sequence going from:
Eventide Timefactor =>
Eclipse Eclipse =>
Eventide Pitchfactor =>
Line 6 M13 =>
TC Electronic Nova System =>
TC Electronic G-Major =>........................
Plus a whole bunch of changes around with stomp boxes!

Current board:
Pedal Train Mini with a Demeter Compulator, Xotic BB and Line 6 M9.

From this I discovered the following top runners for my needs and set-up (All Basses have EMG/Aguilar Electronics).
Best Octave/Pitchshifting:
Digitech Whammy IV Hands-down Absolute best tracking and tone/definition no matter how many forum members argue this, also wiping the floor with the Bass Whammy (yes, I owned a new one from day one).

Best Digital Delay:
Dynamic Delay from TC Electronic (on the Nova, and their rack units). Warm, clear and gets out of the way on faster runs. Also, love this for volume swells.
The Eventide is also fantastic but for different types of delay.

Really miss the Crystals settings from Eventide, but can't justify keeping an Eventide unit just for the one setting currently. In the meantime, the Line 6 has temporarily replaced a lot of pedals until I want to use a bigger board again.

Anyway, this should give some food for thought concerning G.A.S. for some readers out there...............and REALLY hope this doesn't open the ongoing 'Whammy' can of worms again'!

The thing with the Eclipse is that everything sounded really beautiful- but when it came to making music with it, I found that kind of stuff I do didn't allow enough space/"bigness" to make use of most of the big delays and verbs. I also found myself dialing in modulation settings that I had already set with the Boss VF-1, which was a waste of all the Eclipse's flexibility (the Eclipse is also trickier to program), so I just went back to the VF-1 and used the extra cash from returning the Eclipse to finish filling out my pedalboard. If I ever start making more atmospheric music, it would probably be the first piece of gear I get.

I've also owned the Eclipse, Pitchfactor, Whammy IV, and Bass Whammy now. I like the tone and flexibility from the Pitchfactor the best, but they could all use work with tracking. If EHX came out with a whammy pedal using their POG dsp, I'd be all over that, as the POGs have the best tracking that I've found (and the HOG is too limited/expensive/gigantic to try for just an octave-based whammy).
