It's true! 13 years as a pedal junkie and I finally got an EHX. It is AMAZING. I can't wait to use it in a mix, but judging from home usage I can't imagine a better rind mod for bass. The Fine knob should be a requirement for all ring mods, it makes dialing things in just perfect extremely easy, which really is key for such an effect. The Filter mode creates this awesome warble type sound that I can only imagine will sound completely epic in a mix. We shall see.

And I hadn't even checked out the new XO Frequency Analyzer and now I'm GASing for it. It does seem made for bass.

haha! I'm not sure if the Orbiter will supplant flanging on a permanent basis, but I'm currently trying to sound thicker in a more rhythmic role as opposed to flying off the handle with 50 fills per song. We'll see how long that lasts. I saw some Volto side-project dude playing a few months ago and he had 3 octavers on his board. When I heard him filling up the sound during high register runs I thought "oh yeah, that's why I used to love octavers." The dual Aguilar DB 410 stack behind him certainly helped, but still.

Yeah there are others that I still enjoy using, but right now the MB and the Diamond are the pedal-format ones that suit my cork-sniffing tone desires the best. They also complement each other, in that that the Diamond makes things sound "bigger"--deeper, brighter, and it brings dynamic articulation "forward"--while the MB brings everything under control, brings the tonal focus more to the middle, and regulates peaks without drawing attention to itself. I don't use them at the same time! It's just that some OK-sounding basses seem to "spring to life" when I use the Diamond, and some basses (or bassists :ninja:) with a rough edge or boomy peaks seem to benefit best from the smoothing of the MB.

P.S. The Aguilar has since been rotated counterclockwise 90 degrees, and the BMS has slid over for the extra room.

I'd say first try moving the ODB-3 in front of the big muff...it will push it harder and give you more grind.

Search for "post pedalboard" in titles only and TOPEKA, all the threads pop up with very minimal clutter. If you're going to be a Search Nazi, you should know how to search properly in the first place, no? :smug:

A few changes this year...

The Volume is now permanently off-board (doesn't always get used) & the X-Blender and Bass-Drive Mosfet are on to stay!

I've also abandoned my 3rd board all together. It's barely acceptable to show up to gigs & sessions with one or maybe 2 boards, but the third just screamed "too much"! I still have the Choralfalnge, ODB-3, DD-5, TU-2, Small Stone, Bass BigMuff, LPB-1 and Drive-O-Matic in reserve, but I keep them in a bag until needed- then they get inserted into my main boards' aux loop (like the Sub-Lime is in the pic below).

The MURFboard is still more of a studio/creative tool & doesn't travel often.

I love this board. I'm all about simplicity and this does everything I need and nothing else. Some neat little features I like about it are...

...With the Punch Factory (easily my favourite Compressor, some claim it's too subtle but it's perfect for me) rotated at the end of the chain, the outputs for DI and Amp are both nicely situated at the far left of the board...

...Similarly, at the far right the inputs for power and Bass are both easily accessible, due mostly the Diago power supply that fits neatly in the gap at the 'back' of the board....

...Cabling can be made nice and neat with these boards, I used velcro ties to keep the cables in place...

...I also had the idea, having played on one-too-many dark stages, that my board could do with some light from time to time, so I bought these two LED booklights, which clip easily onto the back lip of the board and illuminate enough of my pedals to see on a dark stage.

I use EBS asymmetric connectors between four of the five pedals, I don't know why more people don't use these, they take up way less space and are much tidier to set up!

And that's it. I personally can't imagine ever needing any more pedals than this, at least not in my current band. I play synth too so I've got the crazy sounds nailed down through that. The only changes I might make in future are replacing the TU-2 with a Pitchblack, and somehow fitting an A/B pedal in the gap at the back to switch between EUB and Bass.

Any thoughts?

Very nice! I really like the booklight idea and may have to copy it.

As for my board, I'm finally done. This is the final version of my board for a good long while. This gives me all the sounds I want, negates the need for a power brick of any sort, and should I need more modulation I have the room for it. It's powered by a 1spot and the Bass Drive is powered by its own Boss adapter.

Just did some rearranging of wires and pedals and made a lot of room. GAS may be building soon, but for now I have to head to class.

The EBS offset connectors are good,.
Some people think they can put to much stress on the pedal I/O sockets.
I think if you pedals are locked in place then they are fine, if your pedals are floating around then you might have more of a problem long term.

That's probably the prettiest board I've seen- it's got a full rainbow of colors.
