the picture of the Markbass makes me hearken back to the days of playing Magic the Gathering (i'm a huge geek)..... and having no money so playing with copies of cards. MAYBE a bit more effective then playing a gig with a photo of a Markbass.

I do love my filters. If only there was a way to turn the sound of gargling milk into an effect pedal... I'd buy it NOW, lol! Thanks for the words :)

We know mark bass stuff is light but looks like their going for slim as well now! :D

And back to the boards.

My current board although it is due a revision soon. This was always a temporary layout

The expression pedals control the Freq on the 107 and the Time on the 104

Everything is powered by a Voodoo Lab PP2

I managed to fit the wall warts in with enough clearance for the board to sit flush on the ground.

I need to wire the Chunky Cheese and the Supercollider in series instead of parallel so I can blend my clean in with the fuzzes.

Overall I'm pretty psyched on this board.

EDIT. @ McSleazy. Keep your eyes open on the used market. Every now and then a good deal pops up. I got my 105b (MuRF) for under 3 bills.

Ey Warwick.hoy, that looks like a really efficient pedalboard, gratz! Though I must admist, I base that solely on the presence of two LS-2's. You know, one is very handy, two must be even more better handierer. Could you quickly run us through the signal chain kplztnx? Or did you post that earlier and did I just miss that?

Also, I don't know why or what, but something about your jazz struck a chord with me. Don't know what it is, i mean, jazzes are a dime a dozen and yours doesn't seem very special (no offense, I'm sure it's a great bass), but somehow those pics reminded me how beautiful jazzes really are, even though you kinda get desensitized by the ubiquity of those basses. Kewl.

Having two LS-2s just makes sense for my purposes. I wanted one for blending and one for a loop.

I did post the signal chain earlier, but way back on page 17.

Bass --> TU-2 --> OC-2 --> Source Audio --> LS-2 (1) --> LS-2 (2) --> MoogerFooger Bass MuRF --> Amp.

LS-2 (1) = Loop A OLC Chunky Cheese Loop B: Supercollider (blended).
LS-2 (2) = Boss SD-2 --> Groove Regulator

The first LS-2 is where I need to change it up. Loop B needs to be left open so I can blend a clean signal for both fuzzes and having the SC in Loop B seems to be limiting my settings for that fuzz. So the solution is to run the fuzzes in parallel.

I'm probably going to put the GR and the SD-2 in separate loops on the 2nd LS-2 just as an experiment. It's a work in progress still, but coming together nicely. I want to get a PPII+ for the isolated outputs.

I love my Jazz. Got a good deal on it. It's an old well traveled JV Squier. These basses where MIJ in the early to mid 80's and modeled after vintage Fenders. This one has I believe the 60's pickup placement the reverse gear tuners and a slab fingerboard. There is a nice patina on the hardware (although the control plate and bridge appear to be newer). The PG is yellowed and there are lots of dings in the thin poly coat. It's got mojo,...even though I didn't put it there. I need to get some flats for it. I've got a Warwick that's been my main bass 10 years and they get about equal playing time. Different basses for different settings. [/bass discussion in the effects subforum]

Explanation:

3 signals:

1. Clean into Wah
2. Wah/Clean to Micro POG, to Grunge, Phaser
3. Wah/Clean to Micro POG, dry out to Ibanez PD-7 (Dirty Channel)

These three signals all loop into a Behringer MX400 Micro Mixer, to blend together, going into SansAmp to a Chorus then out to amp/PA from there. Pretty hectic and busy setup, but a sweet sound IMHO.

I'm so tired of Behringer getting such a bum rap for a name and what it doesn't have compared to Boss. I don't attend the church of "True-Bypass." :) I think it's really not that big of a deal. Look how many bass players use standard CryBaby's, and those aren't true bypass. I'm impressed with the Behringer stuff I've owned. I have the DI-400P, the mini-mixer, and the Bass Chorus.

I've had mixed experience with Behringer - a compressor which one channel broke despite minimal use... But the MX400 has been going strong for a couple of years, I've got another one of their (slightly larger but still smallish) mixers which is doing well too. Both sound good, are pretty transparent and do what I want them to.

When I bought the MX400, I couldn't find anything even close to its feature set and size at pretty much any price, let alone anywhere near the price I paid for it. It's a great piece of kit.

I wouldn't trust their rack gear, because they do use some pretty cheap components, but as far as effects and smaller gear, I'd definitely check them out first.
