Finally got around to putting this together today. Some discrepancy between the bought scratchplate and my body template so I'll be cutting another from a blank The custom spaced and wound pickups got from Martin Harmer work great, well worth the £120 outlay

This is my second Sire. Their quality and playability are astonishing, IMHO. I put LaBella flats and a SD Quarter Pounder on it and it just sounds SOOOO GOOOOOD!

I've always felt that the Telecaster bass should have a Telecaster body. I completed my search when I picked this beauty up last month.

Never got around to posting my 54 transition blackguard inspired build that was completed a couple years ago. MJT body, nitro over poly Fender neck. SCPB-1, Luxe brown .1UF brown phone book cap, 15K resistor. Just wish it had turned out more blonde, so I'm going to have it repainted Surf Green and build a 51 style in pancake batter blonde. The finish on the neck pocket actually caught fire when I used a lighter to melt some of the finish checking so it needs to be repainted anyway. I like surf green.

I'd love to find one of those Fender TV Amps. Is that the one 15"?

I had a 1952 Bassman w/ 15", serial # 0051. I had it re-tweeded by Sam Hutton, who worked in the Fender cabinet shop. Obviously underpowered but sounded good for quiet practice. It had 2 circular cut outs on the back. I wouldn't mind scoring a modern version.

I've got one of these guys (2014 CS Proto Precision). My bass looks just like this one, except it's missing the tugbar. Cool bass, but I'm not real keen on the pickup placement.

Yes they did. Not quite like the originals which had the amp guts at the bottom of the cabinet. If memory serves the reissues came in both 12" & 15" cabs.
