If I could have any vette it would either be a 65 stingray, or a 06' ZO6. The 06' contains a 505 hp monster.. most power passanger car engine GM has ever made. The viper only pushes 500hp it has 50 more pounds of torque though due to those extra two cylinders.
My dad has an 82' crossfire, one of the slower vettes made... still a fun ride though!
Between Spectors and Vette's I think the awesomeness scale is pretty saturated. You are my hero.

I thought the '06 ZO6 also had 500 ft. lbs of torque (which, I also thought was equal to that of the viper)? But yeah, that's about my dream 'vette right now. Next to a nice '72 with a 555ci engine with a blower (saw that in the paper the other day). I'm just a Corvette freak, which I guess contributes to me having one when I'm 19 .

As far as speed goes, it has become a VERY close competition..but note the $25,000 price difference. Once you go used, you can get a 3 year old ZO6 for $30k-$35k with under 10k miles... a lot of car for a little more than a new mini-van .

I like vipers as well by the way, but the Vette has gotten much closer in performance as of late. Now if you compare to a Viper GSR, then it's not really fair, haha.

Huh, oh well. Still, that's a monster of a road car. I wanna watch some races, see how they actually compare to one another in real life, from factory. And as you noted, a $25K in price difference. Take that $25K and drop it in that 'vette, and you'd dust that Viper. I'm not a big Viper or Mopar even fan. I like my GMs. Now, the new GTO, that needs work... and Pontiac should public apologize for the Aztec.

Mine is silver. I love Subaru, and this is my 2nd one in 5 years (couldn't wait to trade up) *lol* Although I had some piston problems with this one and they recently just wound up replacing a few pistons AND the engine block...plus a coolant leak...and I think I have a rattling heat shield...thank god for extended warranty

I feel teh same way ray- $25k could more than compensate for any shortage in suspension or power on the vette...they are amazing cars for the money. My last car was a Plymouth Gran Fury which was built like tank and fairly quick- I loved it, but GM is just a little more my style... and the wagon holds a lot more crap. 20 MPG is pretty good for whale like mine.

I think on this tank I'm getting about 18MPG, buuuuut I had a few ricers who thought they were all that, and I think we all know how that one goes. My last tank I got I think 23 or 24 MPG. I think that's not bad at all for a 300HP/330ft.lb V8!

You guys are lucky, on average, with the driving I do, local driving. I get about 9-12 MPG. I might get 20 on highways. I love my car to much to care about needing half my paycheck to pay for gas. I Dont know how much gear I could fit in it, but with the seats down I imagine it would be enough.

yup, but the best angle to demonstrate its awsomeness is from the side of the car to see those big oh meaty tires and engine in all its glory. They look like a perpose built race car.


thanks 5stringDNA, I'm not into drifting but I still love the little box. Soon I'll be signing up for SCCA and start autocrossing it in STS or STX class.

*sigh* you gus kill me . One cool thing about the car, is that GM knows people will race it. It has a sticker on the inside of the door about different tire pressures for racing . And it references it in the manual in many spots also. I should probably start a new thread showing off my 'vette, but nahhhhh.
