How could we forget this one?
It is because the OP asked for the favorite. For most folks like me who served on a M60 it was advertised as a second tier tank. It never even got its own name for a famous Armored cavalry General, being a minor upgrade over the M48 Patton and worse in every way to its contemporary Soviet tanks. In fact the major upgrade the commander copula with a newer but second tier 50 cal machine gun found itself being blown off by artillery near misses when the Israelis rushed replacement tanks into battle during the Yom Kippur War. About its only "favorite" distinction was that the commander's screen thermal viewer on the A3 model was easier to use while commanding the tank then the M1s thermal sight extension, especially if you were left eye dominant.
I remember watching that news nearly live and remember thinking so that is what the tank can handle. At Fort Knox nor at your unit did the trainers never really let you stress the tank for fear of losing training time that would be needed for an unscheduled busting of tracks. About the only crews who did that for real where those who had an accident with a German's car on the autobahn.
Are you certain our Tiger here in , Ottawa, Canadian war museum is not running now?Good old Tiger 131! The only runner in the world. I couldn't believe it when i saw it in Fury.

The Tank Museum’s Tiger is unique: it is the only one of the six surviving Tiger I tanks that is capable of running.
I understand it has cleaner lines than a M48. But essentially it is the last example of WWII technology that still soldiers on. It might be upgraded with a removal of the copula and its failed paired M85 machinegun in favor of the old M2, have add on armor and modern electronics, the laser range finders, and solid state ballistic computer and the 105mm gun with modern ammo can take out anything besides a new tank head on. I don't know if the stabilization system has been upgraded. It could keep you near the target while moving but didn't lock on like the forth generation tanks which can fire while the tank was jumping.I like the M60
Thanks for the insight - interesting.

Canadian War Museum unveils restored Panther tank from the Second World War
Looks like the Panther has been fully restored but perhaps the Tiger is non running....although I thought they told me it was when I was there a few years ago

Its best tactic was the same as the Sherman tanks meeting Soviets in Korea, get behind a berm of dirt, with its belly open but only showing the top of the turret, and the commander's mini turret copula and use the depression on the main gun and hope the enemy didn't figure out that they could shoot through the dirt at the belly armor. Which couldn't work with laser exercise systems. I do remember trying to sit in a hide position when the hydraulic tanks that control the turret would recharge their pressure giving you away. When fighting a M1/M2 armed unit our only chance was to go quiet, hope we cooled enough to fool their thermal sights, shut down everything and go manual and hope to get in enough hits to break contact and run to our next position, But they were much faster on top of everything else. At least a hit with the MILES system called a hit from a tank equally and treated our 105 as if it would kill a M1 head on.
When i was a little kid I built a plastic model of one of these Swedish Army tanks

I remember being especially fond of its appearance -- and, years later, perplexed by its functionality -- since it lacked a turret for the main gun.
[edit: apparently it's called the Stridsvagn 103]
