Its a pool of corn starch on top of a subwoofer. When agitated it takes on the properties of a solid. Youtube some videos, there are some pretty cool ones of this and people running across a pool of corn starch.

It wasn't mythbusters, it was that slo-motion show. Forgot the name of it though.
It's on Mythbusters too but I did see it on that slow motion show. That's the one where you see all the water drops and ripples right?
