I saw a hard rock cover band do "Oh what a night" -it stuck in my mind all these years later- how well they updated it and did a really excellent job!

I can't say we gave it that twist but it is fun to play!
I thought of another on-topic one...as cliche as it's become to vocally make a point of *not* playing Free Bird or to vehemently refusing to play it, it's not in any regular playlist rotation, but we've played it a handful of times, and it's done really well those times.
This was a festival where the band before us made way too much of the (also cliche) yells of "Free Bird!" and their disdain for it, so we played it.
Unplanned, so unrehearsed and not a particularly good performance, but there's a few audience shots in there...

Yes, very well. As a die hard Yankee fan I cringe every time we play it (I’m sure I’m not the only one) but it always kills.
And case & point, Sweet Caroline killed on Saturday night. Stamford, CT...not NYC, but close enough. The entire packed crowd was screaming it at the top of their lungs.
