This setup has been awesome for the past week. A ton of versatility. The Bi-Fet Preamp is incredible on bass. I got mine NOS for pretty cheap!

So, finally I have a board together I'm happy with. It started with this mess (picture nr. 1). A lot of pedals and I really needed only the
- AB switch (I play with two basses live - jazz and precision - what else?)
- MB SuberBooster to compensate the volume of the jazzbass
- LoMenzo Hyperdrive
- Tuner

But since I have a lot of pedals I was playing with them but have never really found very good settings I was satisfied with. Then I saw the sfx sound webpage and I gave it a shot and ordered the micro thumpinator and the X&M looper.
That was really a good decision, even if it's a big amount of money for a student. Suddenly, all the overdrives and distortions on the M9 are really usable and the Markbass Supersynth has nice bottom.

The signal line is:
AB-Switch → MB SuperBooster → X&M
Then the signal goes two ways: The frequencies under +- 300Hz go through the Octabass and those over 300Hz go through the SuperSynth → M9 and then back into the X&M.
The last stage is then the tuner at the very end.

I think the X&M is what I always was looking for. I was never satisfied with normal blendknobs, because there is either too much dirt and not enough bottom or you don't notice the dirt at all.

Been considering using a X&M type setup for the past few years, but gave up looking for such a device. Came across [sfx] a few months ago and now I've been reconsidering doing high/low effects channels again. Recently I've sworn off blenders all together as an inferior solution as well. Not completely sold on the X&M either, especially at ~$270 for a blender. Thinking there would have to be significant overlap in the cross-over freq to give both high/low channels enough mid character. Have you found any limitations the cross-over is causing?

I think that there is some overlap. I'll look this evening with the freqanalyst vst whether I'll find something or not. I'll also make some files.

I have to say I only used it during one rehearsal, but as far as I can say there are no lacking mids. I'll keep an eye for you on that question.

Yeah, but it's a lot of money, but here in Switzerland all the effects cost a lot. I paid 500 dollars for the supersynth... (which is a good price). When you see the first picture, you see what I bought and don't use now - if I bought the X&M in the first place I would have saved a lot of money... Expensive is always relative.

Tis a Nocto.

It's an octave generator. It generates the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. 5th and 6th octaves below the input signal.

The last three octaves down really just add a "pulse" to the tone, creating a trem like effect.

I was the dude who sold DerHoggz the Muff. It's a lot easier to wire up a PT mini with 6" patch cables with the in/out reversed.

...all one must do is unscrew the jacks and flip the board. I put some tape on the enclosure, but nothing too tough.

I figured that was what you did as the traces weren't disturbed and there was no new stuff.

hey g.bisson hows the messdrive treating you? im glad it went to a good home!

Really liking the messdrive! Pairs up well with the hematoma, like it's more extreme brother. With both on it gets very gnarly yet with great definition. Loving the vintage/modern switch too, again it compliments the eq switch on the hematoma so both switches can be used to go from low to high gain modes. Only con would be the messdrive has the highest noise floor of any of my dirt pedals.
