Post Your Pedalboard - Part I

Status
Not open for further replies.
I don't have a pic handy, but my pedalboard goes as follows:

bass/guitar -> Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah -> Aphex Punch Factory -> Boss DD-3 Digital Delay -> EHX Small Clone chorus -> EHX Small Stone phaser -> out to amp or SansAmp (either BDDI, or GT2 if I'm playing guitar) All powered by a Godlyke Power-All.

I'm starting to really like EHX stuff, very smooth and organic sounding. I've got my eye on picking up a Deluxe Electric Mistress and a Big Muff at some point.

I'm putting together a pedal board complete with a preamp for my direct PA send. I've never owned bass effects but the pedal board will be an ideal thing for those smaller jobs where I'll actually be running just through the PA.

I'm wondering if I should be concern about signal coloration by sending through 6 or 7 effects or should I get a patch bay or something like a loooper (loooper.com).

If signal coloration is an issue, wouldn't it be better just to go through all effects with one line and put eq or preamp at the end to compensate? Duhhhh...I don't know!!!

Bass--> Loooper Out --> Boss TU-2 tuner --> Boss DD3 delay --> Boss CEB3 bass chorus --> Boss phaser (early edition) --> Ibanez PD7 OD/Distortion --> Loooper In --> Amp

Wouldn't mind adding an octave or somethin', otherwise this does everything I need it to.

To update mine- I busted out my AC-powered, big-ass Morley Power-Boost Wah chrome pedal last night and added it to the loop. Combine it with that delay, and my solo sounds pretty badassed!

Alright guys...I'm officially out of my mind with Effects Fever. I never really got into it until a few months ago. Anyway, I went through a bunch of effects trying to find the perfect bass fuzz/distortion. Yesterday I bought a Zvex Wooly Mammoth...What a beast!! that pedal is insane. Definitely lives up to the hype. Hard to swallow the price...but I just said f it. So I am officially now building a decent pedal board. So Far it consists of:

Fender Aerodyne J or G&L L2k>Wooly Mammoth>Aphex Bass Exciter>Trace AH250

Already plotting to get a good compessor, and delay...any rcommendations? :bassist:

Depending on what you want, as far as delays go any of the Boss DD line will do you great. I believe there's the DD3 (which I have), DD5 and DD6. The DD6 has the cool "reverse" delay effect which takes a lil bit to figure out how to use just right, but way way awesome once you do.

I wouldn't mind getting one of those Line6 Delay Modelers one day, though. But my DD3 does just fine for how much delay I use right now. Cheap too, and solid as a rock.

There's an Empirical Labs Distressor in the Classifieds right now if you're interested in a friggin' awesome compressor! ;) You already shelled out for the Z-Vex, so why not? :bassist: :hyper:

For compressors, both the Aphex Punch Factory and EHX Black Finger are awesome, see if you can get your hands on those. By the way, how does the Bass Xciter work for you? I've been looking to get one myself. :)

Thanks,
Graeme

Here is mine...

That one down left is copy of Bassballs modded so that the switch is three-position - extra position is for fuzz only... (blue LED in there..)
All of them have velcro strips on the bottom - great for rearanging. Base is the plywood board with glued carpet.

Thanks..I was looking at the Punch factory...I've heard nothing but great things about it.

The Bass Exciter is pretty cool. At first I didn't think it made that much of a difference in my sound. But After playing with it for a little while I've grown to like it. It really fattens up the bottom end, but keeps the mids nice and punchy. You can also get nice shimmering highs out of it. I probably could get a similar effect with the right eq settings, but This way I dont have to push my amp & speakers as hard. If your looking for overdrive too, I would go with a sansamp. But it's definitely worth checking out. I got mine from guitar center, that way I could retutrn it if I wasn't crazy about it.

Anybody have any experience with taming the woolly mammoth? I found 2 settings I really like so far, but for the most part it's over the top insanity fuzz. :) :bassist:
