Post Your Pedalboard - Part I

Status
Not open for further replies.
Its really strange, but I do remember a setting on a Minimoog that had a similar effect. It seems to split the signal in to 8 frequencies. Each frequency has a 'envelope shifter'. There are 12 different trigger patterns, a Q-type filter that controls the envelope and a drive pot that give it crunch. I've got some clips of it singlely on my computer. I'll hunt them up. But here's a clip recorded on a camcorder where you may be able to hear it. I run a lot of effects....

Here is my set-up. Also a question: With a preamp/power amp aet-up, do you run through the effects loop, or plug your bass into the board, then the board to the amp?

here it goes:

bass- 105qwah - dd3 - odb-3 - tu2 - ceb-3 - sabddi - amp

any thoughts?

Thanks

Here is a shot of my unfinished pedal board.

I finally picked up the case and some other pedals I needed from work today:

and inside you see...

Case- Roadready RRCFX16 Mackie CFX16 mixer case.
(from upper left to lower right)
1*- Tech 21 Midi mouse (to control my Sansamp PSA-1 which is on order- mostly for guitar use)
N/S*- Eden Navigator 4 button foot controller
N/S*- Morley foot switch for controlling Sansamp RBI (might be replaced with multi function homemade looper/control box)
2- MXR Dyna-comp (will be placed under riser and out of view in seperate switchable loop with the deep impact)
3- Boss BF-2 Flanger (will be grouped with other Boss Pedals in seperate true bypass loop)
4- Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus (see above)
5- Boss GEB-7 Bass EQ (see above/ set for reggae sounds)
6- MXR Phase 90 (mostly for guitar use)
7- Marshall Guv'nor distortion (mostly for guitar use)
N/S- ProCo Rat (mostly bass use)
8- Voodoo labs Sparkle Drive distortion (mostly for guitar use)
9- Akai Deep Impact Synth (might be hooked up to homemade looper/control box for a program down function)
10- Ernie Ball Volume Pedal JR

I still have to build the actual removeable board with its multiple tiers and wire it all up as well as figure out how to build and wire the looper/control box. It should kick when its done.

*Pedals which will be placed on the top layer of the riser.

For a whole other world of sounds try running it before a pitch shifter like a Whammy or a Wah Wah :)

well..as you can see in the pic, I run it first..then into the octabass..then the QTron. I tried it second and last in that chain..but it worked best first.

Thanks for that tip..I want to try a Whammy pedal, so I'll give that a go.

with those 3 pedals in unison..I can get pretty damn close to Bootsy territory

How is that Strobostomp working for you ??

I have both the strobostomp and a VSII. The stomp is fantastic! I haven't used the DI as of yet...but I'll give that a go at our next gig. The readout is great..huge!
..and it's powering my other pedals. also, I have the bass temperament as my default.

I bought it for my wife, but after getting it here I had to have it for my rack. We're getting her another one :)

What's the main difference between the VS-II and the Strobostomp - could you put the VS-II on your pedalboard ?

Do you use the VS-II as the tuner in your "setup shop" ?

The VSII did start out on my pedal "shelf"....it works there, but it's really too big and bulky. The Stomp was made to be compact for a pedal board. It's made to power other pedals as well as a DI, both features not available on the VSII.
The VSII has features which the stomp does not...mostly more user presets, a built in mic for tuning acoustic instruments..and a few other things I can't recall at the moment.

The stomp is dedicated to my rack setup...the VSII is my portable tuner and for benchwork. I couldn't be more pleased with these tuners. I sold my Korg rack tuner when I got the VSII and understood the difference between strobe tuners and everything else. There's no comparison. I'm just glad to be alive in a time where strobe technology is available for a couple of hundred bucks.

redid my pedalboard today... I had a pedaltrain, then outgrew it and was using the furman powered pedalboard (which I had no issues with). But decided to scale back a bit, and cut down on what I take to each gig. So, I've downsized back to the pedaltrain:

Here's the signal chain:
bass
TU-2
Loooper (3 Loops wth master bypass)
Loop A
Dredgetone Angler Overdrive
Digitech Bass Synth Wah (for octave)
Loop B
Prescription Electronics Depth Charge
EBS Bass IQ
Loop C
Anything I want - connectors reach off board so I can attach wah or anything else I feel like
EBS MultiComp
AnalogMan CloneChorus
MXR M-80 (might be replaced with programmable sansamp BDDI soon)

This will probably change a few dozen times in the next week.

signal path:
Samson Airline Bass Wireless
Boss TU-2
MXR Phase 90
Boss ODB-3
Emma Discumbobulator
Dunlop 105Q
Loooper w/ Blend
- EH Mini Q-Tron in loop
EBS BassIQ
Line 6 Echo Park - stereo out to both inputs of my Mesa 400+. :smug:
Hi Mo'Phat,
I like what I see :hyper:

Out of Curiosity - where do you purchase the Danish EMMA products in the US?

I'm about to upgrade my pedalboard and was thinking of getting two smaller boards for tranpsortability and versatility...

The boards would be set up;

1) DOD 270 A/B- to Boss TU-2 or Retrospec Squeezebox tube comp

w/ power strip

2) (example)

DOD FX10 Bifet preamp, EBS Octabass, Boss DS1 (modded my Invalid Link Removed), Ibanez TS9dx (modded by Invalid Link Removed), T-rex Tremster

w/ Cioks Baby John power supply

This board would be subject to change depending on the gig and my mood :) , and the new toys i get... For some gigs I would just bring board #1 and sometimes both boards.

Like the idea?
