For what if I can ask? I don't need it for the Superdelay, already does way more than I need. Same for the Eventide, with the speed/break function. The GoatKeeper is already crazy enough. But I will have one on there soon once Mario gets my filter done.
I agree. Once I get that damn filter (I'm starting to get really antsy). That will be kind of the last key to the puzzle (that plus an OD and maybe a Noisebox).
For how much s**t Josh gets for making this pedal I really cannot understand why. It is an amazing pedal that does exactly what it is supposed to. It sounds like a thick, lush, spring reverb. And it can go farther than one might need who just needs normal reverb tones. It doesn't have that "spit" that some spring reverbs have, but it can get REALLY wet. The new version is amazing, but completely unnecessary for me.
I sent the guys at Anologue Have a message weekly for like 2 months. Probably annoyed the hell out of them, but I wasn't about to let that slide through my fingers. Glad I did too because they sold them in hours. And I was determined to not have to buy a used one because they are usually hundreds more than retail. I'm down for a club, but it would be pretty short lived. Hehe.

I'm sure I'm breaking a rule as this isn't mine (obviously) but they just broke the world's biggest pedalboard record again with 147 this time.
Sorry, but I'm not impressed. It's a bunch of boards strung together....Big whoop-dee-frigging-doo. 147 pedals. Wow. Let's add up a few of the boards here on just this one effects forum and see how long it takes to break that "record". I'll go first, stick mine at the front of the chain and run a jumper cable to the next guy. My main board currently has 27 pedals (or it did until I stripped it last week), and if I hook it to my small board there are another twelve so I'll hand off 39 to the next guy.
Looking around here, it shouldn't take too long to come up with another 109 pedals.
Josh isn't getting **** for making the Spring Chicken, he's getting **** for putting that pedal out when he's hinted at other pedals for far longer without bringing them to market. Either way, I'm not sure he deserves it, though I think we all would like to hear some further info.
FWIW I think the Spring Chicken sounds great. I'm likely buying a new guitar reverb in the near future (my Holy Grail crapped out again) if I don't splurge on a RRR from the good Dr. I'll probably get an SC.
The factor involved is that it's just a reverb box he bought and added some components to tune it and called it a day. Take a look at the guts and you'll see a black box with a few components around it.
i am perplexed by your (and others') fascination with the spring chicken. I think it sounds just as poor a spring reverb sim as any other out there. Yes, I have actually tried the Spring Chicken with my rig. At least the (insert any digital mutimode reverb) has hall and plate modes... and more controls.
he admits this on his website, or at least he did when the chicken was first announced. He uses an off-the shelf Korean digital reverb unit that is used by many other manufacturers. But "you've never heard it sound this great before!" (paraphrased from the website)

Hermida also licensed that design as a kit through GGG that I built a month ago and it sounds great.
Well, if the SC is not your thing, it's not your thing. I personally think it sounds better than most digital spring reverbs around that price. And since I use it for nothing but adding texture to my solos I'm not concerned anyway. The RRR is a great pedal, but like I've said before, I get frustrated by pedals that can do a lot, but only have one option available at a time. It is just like extra money for nothing. I can't stress this is just how I feel, nothing against highly adjustable pedals, and especially nothing against the RRR. I just like to have pedals that either have tons of live controls, presets, easy interfaces, etc.... or pedals that do exactly one thing well. Which is why I got the SC. I could have gotten an RRR for instance, but I didn't because there was no point in me paying $200+ for a versatile pedal when I could only use one mode live (especially since I don't need all those different modes).
nothing at all wrong with a one-trick pedal if it does the trick you're looking for. I just think the SC is overpriced and underwhelming. It isn't BAD per se
I do think that its success has more to do with the Malekko rep than it does with the pedal itself, though
I can understand your frustrations RC, I would be as well if I had been waiting for these mystic creations Josh has been talking about. And in all seriousness, if the SC isn't your thing, what do you think is the best digital Reverb out there, that is in about the same sized box? Not the best value, but just the best sounding. Or at least some options. If there is one better, I'd love to get it. Just for the record I really do not like the EHX Holy Grail or any of its derivatives. Also, like I said the RRR is great, but it is slightly more than I need (I don't need 9 reverb settings, especially a "rotary" mode). I pretty much like Springs and Hall, never been a big fan of plates or rooms. If there is something I can find I like more, I want it.
