I like user groups, we could have a Fender Jazz user group, Jazz bass and nothing else but Jazz bass players, think of the possiblities!

Not stealing Paul's thunder, but I've been running vb3 on my own bass forum for a couple weeks.

The quick reply button might wanna stay with the post because you can also view vb3 in threaded view - where you get one person's posts and all the replies to that post in order. If you play with it in your user CP you might see it - but in order for threaded view to work the system needs to know which post you're responding to.

Depends on forum settings - normally they're only available to mods and admins.

Okay, I'm gonna shut up now and let Paul answer questions about his own forum - which looks outstanding, by the way. TB's upgrade wasn't for the fainthearted.

Is there any news on the huge white space above the posts - I find it incredibly irritating and each thread takes much longer to go through?

So all the posts don't start until after the ads on the left and then take up more space - so each thread is spread over more pages and long threads are torture to navigate through!! :hmm:

I can't see the Top 20 posters list either - my claim to fame gone!! ;)

It's all been done just to annoy me!! :D

Seriously, the only problem I have with it is that it seems much slower than before - so each page waits an age to load up and then you are presented with loads of white space to scroll down and then 4 or 5 posts to a page!! Then you have to go to the next page and wait again!! :hmm:

I'll come back in a few days and see if it's any better!!

so, uhh, how *do* you get a full-size image in a post - when i attached one it came up as a thumbnail in the post, but the posts before and after mine had fullsized guys. I tried the copy/paste thing from before but instead of getting the image i got a hyperlink to it, as if i had hit the URL button instead of the Picture button (but the tags were indeed IMG tags)

forum lookin' good today at home on the wide monitor, still might be big-font city at work tho.

I think this is pretty nice. By using the TB2004(2 col psts), It retains the layout I like and have a color scheme I can read better than the old forum. The only thing I really dislike is the layout of the "Who's Online" page. I liked the smaller format of the old system, easier to read.

I Don't seem to have any of the format problems I'm reading about. Maybe system/browser compatiblity probs. I'm running WinXP Pro/IE 6(latest update-1/19/04)/no JavaVM/high security/screen res-1024 x 768, 32bpp.

Simply click a thumbnail to get the full image. All attached images generate thumbnails on the fly now. Saves bandwidth for large thread loads.

Sorry, but as per the announcement that ran the week prior to the upgrade, all attachments had to be cleared. Attachments were taking over 2 gigs of space in our old database, and accounting for more than 1/3rd of my bandwidth charges, for the whole site(!) The new system puts in place a user quota - check the FAQ for more info.
