To be brief
I am 57 years an completely fed up with having to learn again how to work with again a new forum.
It was fine with me how it was.
Now the android app does not work anymore and i have to fiddle around with buttons and knobs again to find my way.
I am so sick of this because it is not only talkbass but hundred of other fora ,sites etc.
Bullocks!!

I'm posting this from the Android app. It seems to be working fine.

Just a minor point: I like that we all get avatars now, but when I try to upload it says "the file is too big for the server". .. but it doesnt say what the file size limit is.

I would have though that would be easy enough to put some text in the box next to the "upload you image" button?

Strange, quote "The TalkBass iphone/android app is NOT WORKING currently. We're working on it. Tapatalk IS working, so if you need to use an app, use Tapatalk. Try using your browser though - TalkBass is now 100% responsive to your phone/tablet screen size ;)

I believe that message is from Wednesday. On Friday, David Wilson posted:

There is a new version of app pending release from the app store, android version is now updated

I'm fine with the overall re-do. I work in I.T. so I actually like the challenge of learning something new. :smug:

My minor request: Would it be possible to switch the post date from the bottom to the top of the post? I find it non-intuitive to look for the date down there, especially with a longer post such as one with embedded images. I could also see it on the left side instead of or above the 'Joined' date. Another scenario could be keeping the posted date on the bottom and adding it to the top.

Things I really like so far:
  • The message contents arriving in my e-mail
  • The multi-quote system

HI
Feeling a little lost with the the new layout, I have a couple of questions.
1) I read a post that describes bumping a thread via a button but I can't find how to do it. Can I do it, or are we back to the old style of replying "bump"? A 1-click button sale post thread would be awesome.
2) How do we leave feedback now? It was a little buried in the past, again a 1-click button in the sale post thread would be great.
3) Are "likes" the new feedback method? How can we see a persons feedback number? or is it only a % now?

Appreciate the help,
Thanks!

Maybe a silly thing, might be undoable...

When your cursor is over a topic, it creates a preview of the first post. Some websites have a floating box which gives a bit of the starting text, no user name or date (redundant because it's already listed under the topic link, so it's redundant *laugh*)... and willing to list over the topic title.

On the current TalkBass iteration, the top first and second topics have any useful information rolling off the top of the screen, due to the "talk balloon" tail and the original post's author and date pushing it out of sight.

If it were below, then if one is moving down the page (the way most, but maybe not all of us read an English-language page), at least a little of it would be readable for the last currently visible topic.

And if one got rid of the "word balloon" format, then more would be visible.

Is there a need to redisplay the OP name and date, already on display?

Is there an option to get rid of the word balloon?

BTW, since sometimes people argue that things aren't even minorly inconvenient: What's more convenient? To be required to do a little scrolling, or to not be required to think about it at all?

Thanks!

How to we arrange what order our photos are in for the classifieds? now that the 1st image is the thumbnail for the classifieds you want it to be a full image not the back of the body or some random case photo. However when I upload them I try to put them in the order I want them and that doesnt work they dont upload in the order you select them and I also cant drag and drop them. So yes how do I order them?

Same question here. Where's the "BUMP" button? It's not at the bottom of my ad ... anyone?

Where the picture appears in the post after you select "show full image" it can then be cut and pasted to the pole position if needed.

My only real issues are the lack of quick-links to a thread's last post.Or even to the last page from the Home page....Also having to sign in to view attachments.

Otherwise,...Going from area to area is fantastic. The resizing of pictures is great.

Over-all,...Very fresh and clean looking.Great work.

**What are Trophy Points for and can I trade-in mine to get a new Fender Aerodyne?:greedy:

Wow. Way to go. A new, unimproved, overly complicated, version with ADHD-influenced graphics, links, etcetra and soforth. WHY? Seriously, WHY? What was so wrong with the old format? It WORKED. Ergo: it did NOT need fixing.
I admired the OLD Talkbass because it was simple, point-focused, easy to use, and wasn't trying to be hipster like so many other websites and forums.
Now, it's doing the plaid-shirt, unshaven PBR-drinking thing. H I P S T E R bullshart. A sad sign of the times. "Improving" for the focus of being the newest, latest, greatest, lookatus site.
I can almost hear the pizzicato ukelele music bouncing in the background, punctuated with simplistic reverb piano notes, like any number of TV commercials now.
