How does the Hipshot compare to the Kahler? I've tried the Kahler in the past, and also the Steinberger system, and thought they were pretty heavy feeling, especially the Kahler. I'd love to own a bass with a whammy bar, though.

Benjamin, how do you find the whammy works on the fretless? I can see the point of one on a fretted bass, but on a fretless it seems to be duplicating an effect that's already available to you.

I think the hipshot is more expressive than the kahler... I had tuning issues with the kahler as well. The only drawback with the hipshot is the amount of routing that has to be done. But well worth it if done correctly by a professional. I have had no problem at all with the hipshot staying in tune.

I haven't had the chance to try a Hipshot, but looking at the way it works, I had a feeling it might be a bit easier to use.

kinda a crappy pic but i'm too lazy to take a better one cause its quarter to one in the morning.

the one on the left is alder warmoth body, jazz neck SPB-2 Pickups and a hipshot trem. Just finsished assembling it today actually.

I also do alot of dive bombs and pitch shifting of chords as well. My trem is setup to where all the strings shift at different rates, so I can slide chords around without them going out of tune. Pretty spiffy.

Tremolo is amplitude modulation, meaning the volume is varied. This effect is called Vibrato on Fender amps.
