Pot shot, or do i just need to resolder?

I picked my bass up yesterday, and to my utter horror, no sound would come through any of my amps. All wires are attached, but my volume pot is really jiggly. Everything matches to the Dean wiring diagram, so im suspecting either the pups or the volume pot. Its a Dean Zone xm with a single soapbar pup.

It's hard to see in the photo but, is the black wire from the pup soldered to the top lug if the pot? If so it looks good to me. The red and white wires should be tied together for a humbucker pup, they should be insulated from the rest of the components with some heat shrink.

I know it's a common question but did you try a different cable. They will go bad before the electronics in the guitar will.

I would pull the pup and check for a broken connection. If the wires to the pup are still connected use a volt/ohm meter set to ohms on the pup to see if the coil is working. You should get readings from around 4ohms to about 16ohms depending on the pup. If you get 0 or no reading you have a bad pup.

If all is good there start from the out put jack and back trackl the pots and connections to find the culprit.

I've tried 3 different cables and two different amps
The red and white wire doesn't need to be soldered? Its a single soap bar pickup, and all other connections are connected aside from the red and white. I'll check the pickup though. Thanks

Is that bass a Dean with the one soapbar, by any chance?
