Pots, Caps, and all things Wirey!

Hey folks,
As per my previous thread I'll be installing a Seymore Duncan SMB-4d into my OLP bass for the first time this weekend.

Im just looking for abit of advice over the pots and caps now. Will the fact that Ill still be useing the same original OLP electronics, limit the tonal range of the new BassLine pick up?

Also, what kind of perameters are there arounf mixing and matching pot and caps? For example (this maybe an extrememly stupid question), but Ive got an old Ibenez 7string guitar knocking around. What would happen if I transplanted the electronic from that into my bass?

Would it blow up? haha

What values are the pots and cap?

Most guitars and basses with passive pickups use 250K or 500K pots.

The cap is questionable, however, as it is common for guitars to use 0.022uF caps, while on a bass, you usually need at least 0.047uF to get a good treble cut.
