Power Amp Bridge Cable?

I've never seen one pre-made on the market, but they may exist. They're so easy to convert that I'd be surprised if they are out there.

I'd say the best thing to do is go to a local dealer and tell them what you need but don't know how to convert the speakon. They should be able to help.

I made a Bridge cable from a standard 3ft speakon speaker cable I owned for my XLS1500 DriveCore amp. The etched +/- are tiny on the inside of the speakon connectors so do this under a shop lamp or other, lest your eyes are younger n mine. ;) Make sure you cut off the wire tip if they're tinned; for better screws to wires contact.

I just opened one speakon end, rewired it +1+2, closed it up and done. I did use a felttip pen to put the letter "A" for AMP on the modified end and a letter "C" for CAB on the stock end, so I wouldn't cross em up. The "A" end goes into CH1 of amp.

I also happened to already have a 3 ft Banana to Speakon cable that I made up same way awhile back for my Eden cabs. You just use the banana end at the Bridge contacts of amp. I take it as a backup.

I suck at fabricating anything and I made two of em. You should try it. If not be sure and tell store clerk how you need one end modded of a stock speakon cable and they should do it for you on the spot. Good luck.

you can get a regular 1/4" to 1/4" speaker cable and again, take one end off and add a speakon connector to the two bare wires 1+ & 2+. The numbers are pretty tiny on the speakon connectors but once you open it you'll see the tiny numbers on there. Its' really pretty easy and obvious once you get your hands on the parts. I bought a speakon connector at local store and went home and did it. Or buy or take your speaker cable to store, buy the speakon end and see if they'll make it for you there.

I also own a speakon to 1/4" speaker cable but its a good brand and facory made so I did not want to mod that one. Maybe you can get one of those and just rewire the speakon end to +1/+2. Run the 1/4" side to your cab.

If you wanna try it yourself, you'll be surprised how easy it is. No soldering, just a small phillips head screwdriver, maybe wire cutters so you can cut one 1/4" end off. And to trim the tinned (soldered) ends off or cut the casing back to expose more of the wire ends. Once you get the parts in your hands, should make more sense. Let us know how you came out.

Making speaker cables using Speakon connectors is the easiest wiring I've ever done. VERY user friendly but get a flashlight or magnifying glass cause the markings ARE a little hard to see if your eyes are like mine and the other poster that mentioned this. The link to Crowns web site is easy to read and follow and has detailed instructions on making a "bridged" output cable (the link is earlier in this thread look on page 4). IMO soldering a good 1/4" plug on is WAY harder than Speakon connectors are to work with. If you are not very confident take a used or new 1/4" speaker cable and cut one end off and wire the 4 pole Speakon as follows: tip of 1/4" plug to 1+ on the speakon, ring of 1/4" plug to 2+ on the Speakon connector. DO NOT USE THE REMAINING CONNECTIONS on the Speakon connector in this application.

Nuetrik Speakon connectors are the EASIEST connectors I have ever worked with in my 45 years of making cables (I'm 53)

This method works with all bridged capable amps I have used or seen. This does not mean it will work for all but I am quite sure it is an industry standard.

Given the amount of effort and confusion it has taken to get this far I really hate to do this, but:

You don't want to be using a 1/4" connector with a bridged amplifier. This has been covered dozens of times in dozens of threads. So has the simple task of wiring the connector, but here we are.

The exposed sleeve of the connector will be hot if you do this. It is both a shock hazard and a way to short out one side of the power amp.

pull that 1/4" plug out of the speaker during performance (had a drunken fan mess with the equipment?...) and touch it and you could KILL yourself. (Not possible with Speakons due to design has no exposed conductors) IF you have insurance for this sort of thing it better have a very high payout. I upgraded all high power cabs and amp racks to Speakon connectors and replaced the cable ends last year (about time)

In bridged mode you don't even have to pull it out. That's my point. The sleeve is connected to the HOT side of the second channel, it's got the same voltage on it as the tip.
