Powered Monitor Help!

You might think about adding an aditional gain stage on your monitor out. An EQ, a Comp set to brick wall limit, etc...

You might gain some utility from the deivce as well. Then the band guys don't have to scrap their approach... the approach itself might be fine, or maybe not but sometimes with some personel less change is better.

That EON 10 ought to be taking your head off...

^ So in the past 2 months we had 3 gigs. The first gig was with it run with the subgroups and I couldnt hear it, so I made this post.

The 2nd gig I did the sound and connected all the monitors through different aux outputs. When I wasnt playing bass, I could hear guitar and vocals out of it, but because the 2nd gig was on a small stage, my bass amp was right in front of me and when my bass amp was turned up, I couldnt hear what was coming out of the monitor. We dont have subs on our PA, so my stage volume was a little louder.

The 3rd gig we played at a place that had a good house sound system throughout the venue and had some nice JBL subs in front of the stage. We still used our own monitors, and I ran everything though the suboutputs, but because they had good subs, my stage volume was low enough that I was able to hear everything coming out of the monitors.

4mal, i actually did what you suggested when messing around with the mixer this past weekend. I had a boss EQ pedal from my guitar pedal board that I used as a solo boost for acoustic guitar. I plugged it in line with the signal going to my monitor to add a little more gain. I was able to get a good volume boost out of it so im going to give that a try at the next venue.

I think for the upcoming shows where I know space is tight and we dont have a house system to tie into, Im going to put the Eon 10 up on a speaker stand right near my head.

Looks good. I think it meets all my criteria and thats a pretty good price point. I'll have to check it out at the local GC this weekend.

It doesnt have a problem playing bass through it? I would also love something that could double as a practice amp as I dont like lugging the ampeg combo back and forth to practice. Have you plugged your bass guitar directly into it? A lot of songs we played drop a half step or a step down, does the speaker sound fine playing the Low E string (which would be a D in my tuning)?

That would be a HUGE added bonus if I could use the EV as a small practice amp and plug my bass directly into it!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I just played my passive P-Bass through it and it does sound like a bass but it is pretty quite. You could keep up with a couple of un-miked acoustic guitars. It gets two or three times louder with a VT Bass pedal in front of it and sounds much better. The E string farts out the speaker pretty easily unless you roll off the bass. I doubt that you could keep up with a drummer unless he played with brushes. Maybe if you can put it in a corner and roll off the bass going into it. An active bass would probably sound better without the pedal in front of it.
