Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

Unbalance string to string tension compare to Ti flat. A bit tight on G string and little loose on E string, quite similar to Fender 9050L I use before.
.095 E sound much a live and clearer than .105E ( previous set M3050).
Sound get better balance from E to D, but the G still lack some thump, maybe still need to give it some time to settle in.

I should be receiving my 3025 set sometime this coming week, although I don't plan on putting them to work till next month.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the Fender 9050L with a 100-E seemed to work better on my P than the 9050CL with a 105. So, I chose the 3025 over the new CM3050, hoping more for the tonal balance than the tension balance.

Once they're on my P, I'm willing to stick with them at least for six months before the final assessment. So, stay tuned...

Swap the Tijf344 with 3025 and my first week opinion.
More stiff than Ti flat and LTF4A , but still comfort playing .
Although it tension is little higher thanTi flat, my pbass neck relief still keep in .010-.012 range.

My comfort string action with 3025 is 2.1mm on E and 1.7mm on G without fret buzz.

interesting with the tension observations as the D is 5lb heavier than the G

This is just another example that goes to show "tension" (as in pulling weight) and "stiffness/flexibility" (as in playing feel) don't always go hand-in-hand.

I used to live and die by the tension figures, but this is why I try not to get too hung up on the numbers now.

I agree we shouldn't get hung up on them, though when I tried the 105 85 65 45 set of PFs I did find the A and D a fair bit stiffer than the E and G which is what the tension numbers would have you believe.

Here's a question for you guys. In terms of the type of highs and upper mids that help a flat wound string sit audibly well in a mix, how do the GHS Precisions' compare next to La Bella DT Flats or Fender flats for example?
Fair enough question. For finger plucking. I find Precision flats to be more authentically woody & acoustic closer to a double bass. Fender flats have that unique leathery conga head hi-mid/lo-hi tonality with a prowling leopard stalking it's prey in the low midrange. DTFs just blat & burp. Thumbing is deeper with a softer attack on all. Heavy plectrum action tends to be mostly high mid attack on any flat with tons of lows blossoming out underneath if left unmuted.

I've been doing lots of bass recording recently and have found that punchy low mids seems to make the bass sit better in the mix than anything else in the frequency spectrum, although it doesn't seem that way when playing. PF's are the kings of low mids.

in most basic of terms the GHS have less overall treble and more midrange than labellas. labellas are scooped, with nice bass, light mids, and some treble. GHS are nice bass, nice mids, light treble. Because of this GHS sound "thicker" if that makes sense, whereas labellas kinda "punch" and "snap" which is the scooped mids sound.

i haven't played the new formula fender flats, they are made by d'addario so i imagine similar to chromes which weren't my bag (uber uber tense).

My experience does support the idea of the La Bella being somewhat scooped. And the thicker low-mids are exactly what I'm hoping for with the P Flats.

The Fender 9050 flats, though made by D'Addario, are very different from the Chromes both in tone (not as clanky) and feel (not as stiff).
