I say they might be MIJ/CIJ tuners used on the reissues. The pic is from my 62 RI made in the early 90s.

If you compare the edge of the elephant ear, and the philips screw, and the washer, and probably the front axis, it's not the same ..

Possibly looks like early Japanese clone tuners... i.e. late 70s/early 80's. I should find mine and photograph the backside and see if there's a match. Mine are in a box somewhere around here.

definitely japanese. 100% they made reverse replica and non reverse replica. I have both.
