Preamp (pedal) into a power amp

If it's a stand alone power amp, set the input level controls fully up and use the master volume control on the preamp.

If it's the effects return on a bass amp, the sensitivity rating will be done differently and in general setting the master volume on the bass amp to the ~12:00-2:00 position should get you close.

Virtually everything in the above text is simply incorrect. Was this an AI generated response?

The maximum output level needs to be GREATER than the input sensitivity rating of the power amp, otherwise the preamp will clip before the power amp reaches rated power. Most power amps have limiting circuits as well, so you want to be able to drive at least 6dB beyond the sensitivity of the power amp. Also note that the sensitivity of a power amp is specified with the input level controls fully up.

It makes NO difference if the preamp is tube or solid state. The output levels and impedances can be very similar without any difficulty. There may be some outliers, but they are rare.

This interaction is an excellent microcosm of AI. Despite sounding rigorous and knowledgeable on the subject and fooling many people, someone with expertise in their field can root out inconsistencies very quickly between the reasoning of the AI and reality and nuance of the subject.

Huh?

After combing the thread, I realize I'm more or less restating your opinion on AI too here. Simply that the software seems all knowing but isn't and doesn't fool experts.

Gotcha, I didn't understand your response.

AI doesn't understand the subject, it just concludes data from different sources. One issue is AI using AI generated source data. No one can control the AI using false source data, and this is known issue at the time.

True, false information generated from its own false information, the equivalent of eating its own babies.
