Now that I have figured out that precision basses are my basses of choice I'm wondering, what other P basses are worth while besides Fender and Sandberg? Lakeland Skyline (or USA made)? Or something else?

Precision basses other than Fender

There are a lot of options available. It there something about the Fender you don't like?
Thanks guys. Sadowsky is a good one. I love the Fender precisions but I don't want to be limited to just them in case there is something else good out there. If that makes sense
For whatever reason (maybe the pickup shape?) I've always found that it is pretty hard to screw up a precision. But yeah, Lakland, Lull, Sadowsky would be on my short list to look at.
In particular, I really like the Lakland that used to be the Duck Dunn model (I forget what they call it now, just some numbers). I do prefer J necks on my Ps
I think the G&L LB-100 is a nice instrument, especially for the money. (I got mine before the price increase, though.)
And sounds nothing like a "P".
Yeah... Rest assured that I tried one of these before I came to the conclusion that I like the Precision most of all...
My comment wasn't based on preference. I just don't feel they sound "P" like and you were looking for other manufacturers "P"s.
So you're just looking more for the P-bass look right? I can get a very nice thump out of my SR5, so I figured that the 4 string version could as well.
I appreciate your input. Besides the tone, it's also the ergonomics that draw me towards the precisions. I could never really get used to the pickup placement on the SR or Sterling
I am very happy with my Fender Classic but I would love to have a Dingwall Super P.
