Precognition?

I thought this was pretty strange and wondered if anyone else has ever had this experience. I was working one day and my job is pretty repetitive so my mind tends to wander. All of a sudden I started thinking of the movie Runaway with Tom Selleck and Gene Simmons. Why did I think of this campy 80's movie? Beats me, but a couple of days later, I was channel surfing and guess what movie is on?!? Runaway.

This isn't the only time it has happened. It usually happens when I'm at work and my mind wanders and captures a snippet of a movie or an obscure song and within a day or two, I see the movie or hear the song in some restaurant or some place where I wouldn't expect to hear anything.

Is there such thing as precognition and is this it?

I knew you were going to start this thread.

I've had that happen a lot. Especially, I'll be thinking of a song or movie and then it comes on the radio or television, respectively. I chalk up to chance. Does precognition exist? I doubt it. But if so, it's not reliable enough to be useful.

That really isn't precognition as much as it is coincidence. It's only the trigger in your brain making it relevant, as your memory works in strange ways.

This happens to alot of people I'm sure. But it's mainly the odd, out of left field stuff that sticks in your head and causes that trigger...I bet you think of a million more mundane, ordinary things that cross with everyday and you'd never blink an eye at it.

OR, you're predisposed to thinking about and changing channels to stations that show crappy movies. :smug:

Most mornings, on average lets say 5 out of 7, when I wake up I think I am going to go to work and then, around an hour later, you won't believe this, but I am at work. Its pretty amazing. I have been thinking about going on TV with my powerful precognition.

I've wondered about it. Happens to me every so often. I'll find myself thinking repeatedly about something that seems off-the-wall, not relevant to anything I'm currently concerned with. In a short time, it'll turn up in real life, in some unforeseeable context. I wouldn't call it precognition. Intuition, maybe.

here's one. I'm looking for a new house at the moment - very stressful. After a long bout of arguing in my household this past saturday, I went to bed. About 1 AM I wake up and cant sleep. As I lay there I keep on thinking about the house that I grew up in and had left about 25 years ago, I dont know why as I've lived in 5 houses and 2 apartments since then. I get up, get dressed, still angry, jump in the car and drive there only to see a "for sale" sign on it. Called the realtor, it had literally gone on sale that very day by the same owner that had moved in 25 years ago.
Yeah just a coincidence probably, but those coincidences happen to me constantly.

My friend the cop doesn't believe in coincidence much.

The movie reference probably stems from seeing a commercial for the movie earlier in the week while watching TV or hearing it on the radio, and your subconscious stores that bit of info. It comes to mind at a later point like it did for you, and suddenly you feel like maybe you have some strange power to predict the future. I've had the same happen to me.

I say go with it. Dionne Warwick made millions off her Psychis Friends Network..

It's more of the fact that you thought about it and so it stands out in your mind, then you see it and think "ZOMG I totally predicted that" when really you just happened to notice it because you were thinking about it. It's a lot like when you learn something new and now it seems like it comes up everywhere. It was there before, you just didn't notice it.

There are no coincidences. There are only patterns that we don't yet see. :ninja:

I have to agree.

I'll bet that we still don't know the majority of what there is to know about the universe and its' machinations. What we think are 'coincidences' or mysterious events will be proven to be a part of the natural order of things at some point. I believe there are vast amounts of knowledge that have been lost or forgotten regarding how things work.
