I bought a really nice Herman Miller office chair from some Silicon Valley startup that went bust. It was perfect, but my wife commandeered it when she started working from home. Now, I sit on this old Craftsman creeper stool. It gets the job done I suppose.

There's no blood on the chair (that I know of). It is from the chair making company he ran, E C Woodshop.

Here is an older catalog that has the folding chair, model 018, on page 119. Mine is a dark-finished quarter sawn white oak version.

We have another folding chair made by E C, the model 2001, which is shown on page 9. It is a simple slatted Arts & Crafts style chair that would also work well for me as a practice chair.

Our band performs seated, so comfort is important to me. I'm also short for my weight and gravitationally gifted, so a wide seat that's properly padded is a must. I've used a Sound Seat for the past 5 years or so, but the backrest would not stay in place so a replacement was necessary. I found this online:

Wide, padded & sturdy and the back does not move. The chair is very comfortable. I wish it was lighter and more portable (I wish I was lighter and more portable,) but you can't have everything. I'm looking forward to gigging with it this year.

So crazy question; what does every body like to sit on when they practice? I’m looking for something better than the metal folding chair I use now.

I was considering a drumming throne; comfortable and nothing to accidentally bang the instrument on (like a folding chair).

I got this chair from Musicians Friend and it’s perfect.

For the 'office' I use a Herman Miller. For playing, I've using a drum stool for a while, but today I ordered a K&M 14045.

I use a Roc-N-Soc tower stool with the original tractor-style seat. Note that the add-on backrest won't work with the tower stools, I bought one but it interfered with the swivel, and I didn't really need it, so I gave it to my drummer, who I later fired.

I liked it so much I bought one for my rehearsal studio as well.

I use an adjustable piano bench for playing cello, working at the computer and a little for bass. I cannot get a comfortable right arm sitting, so I prefer to play bass standing.

Real men play bass standing for as long as the funk requires!
