Preferred device to sit on

So crazy question; what does every body like to sit on when they practice? I’m looking for something better than the metal folding chair I use now.

I was considering a drumming throne; comfortable and nothing to accidentally bang the instrument on (like a folding chair).

Any suggestions?

I use a roc-soc saddle-style drum throne. It's fantastic for practice. Comfortable, adjustable, out-of-the-way-of-the-instrument, and doesn't take up much space in the studio. Also very well made.

I have an office chair with no arms. Adjustable height and very comfortable

^Same here.^
If I’m not at home and need to sit, whatever is available as long as I can play while sitting on it. I generally can’t use anything where my butt is lower than my knees, but anything close to that all the way up to a leaning post works if that’s what is available.

yeah, tried many chairs,hated knocking my basses on chair arms& wide backs!after a visit to guitar center, I noticed they used small piano benches! so I got online found a couple cheap, cheaper than drum stools! work great & i use as a tiny end table when not in use! they usually have good thick padding too! as much as drum thrones,but for a fraction of the cost! use it next to bed. 2nd favorite place to sit. GL

Unplugged, I am happy sitting back on the couch.

Plugged-in, a bar stool or some such generally does the trick.

I will sit on anything you’ve got. I prefer something without arms though.

I’ve got short stools and long stools (practice at my house I have collected many stools over the years for people to sit on)
And a couple of armless chairs. Those are nice and I prefer them over the stools (which MUST swivel)

my drum throne. I would never use it when I’m playing my bass or recording. But if you do go drum throne get the Rock-N-Soc those are great.

But the seat I like the most is this low (maybe 29-30” padded bar stool. It’s firm enough to play but comfortable enough to spend hours on…
(I think I got it at Target for like 50-60 bucks)

My daughter bought me mine for Christmas. Great kids!

I get a lot of back and neck issues, so this set up helps me a lot. I keep my left foot up on the block with my bass on my left leg. Much less wrist pain as well.

I sat on a Super Redhead for years! Quite roomy. Depending on the gig, I could also fit a plate of calamari on there too!

No idea what that is but possibly my next band name.

He might be referring to a 'gunfighter's'/'gunslinger's' chair. Old west saloon's, etc. would knock the right arm off of armchairs so as not to impede holster access while sitting down. Also works for right handed guitar and bass players.

Mine is similar. No danger of dinging the body on the edge of a hard chair. Rotates freely and tilts down to pickup something or fiddle with a pedal. I either sit on the stool or stand.

A 'bar height stool' generally results in better posture than a table height or lounge type chair. The leg cross braces are also usually at the optimum height for the raised leg for the average person, as that is factored into the design for better quality ones, the budget ones tending to follow the same measurements anyway.

I used a pair of Peavey SP-1's as my cabs for a few years, doubled as a dance floor, lol
