Why would you want to prevent it?
"Can I have another piece of pie? I gotta protect the back of my bass!"

Don't tuck in your shirt!
The Guitar Condom does not list a Fender P bass model, (only Fender J).
A couple years ago, I sent them an email, asking if they had one cut specifically for a Fender P bass, and they never responded.

I don't like scratches, no in the front, no in the back, its just a thing in my head. The only yeah I could avoid it would be with a "road worn" kind of bass, this way I won't feel guilty... maybe a "hardcore aged" sandberg... oh oh.... GAS is coming...two options for me - shirt out or a bandanna that I wrap around the buckle (handy for later to wipe neck down)
Just wear a sock...it worked for Flea.

you could just gain weight. im fat and ive never had a problem with belt scratches since my gut covers the belt.
this obviously isnt a serious recommendation. but it is true lol
I would really want to just don't give a
about it since I LOOOVE this bass and shes definetly a lifetime keeper but I'll give a try to the bandanna.
