Prince to me transcended whatever genre and instrument he was playing and was always open to new influences. I read an interview with the engineer on his latest album who said he was listening to Nine Inch Nails and Ministry for inspiration for his newest work.

I feel he was Stevie's peer. Wonder is superior as a pure composer, but Wonder could not have been Prince even if he wanted to.

Prince was an entertainer's entertainer, much like Maurice White. Man, all my music heroes are dropping off one by one. I'm very sad.

Every time I saw Prince perform, it was nothing short of riveting. What a natural, and what a sense of style and aesthetics.

Saw him live in Denver a few years back during the Musicology tour. He looked the same as his MTV hey-days. And at one point he grabbed a red Jazz bass and slapped the snot out of it, just because he can.

Musicians who can write, arrange, and perform music like he did are so rare, it's like a unicorn dying.

I wonder what took him...flu-like symptoms can point to many ailments.
