Sorry, I tried but the logic is lost on me. Should I boycott every company which was the first in its field to outsource manufacturing?

In a previous life, I worked in analogue TV transmission. Should I blame Nyquist, Shannon, or maybe even Henry Morse for the obsolescence of my skills?

I don't love Behringer but I sure do hate blind prejudice.

Edit: Sensible responses are welcome.

If the number of times that a company has been sued is determinitive for whether or not you do business with them you may wish to have a look at this link. I gave up counting after 60 times that Microsoft had been sued. Quick! dump your Windows PCs!

I have no idea how accurate that site is. I don't really care. It makes no difference to me how many times a company has been sued. Successful companies are always targets.

Apple has been sued a large number of times as well I suspect. And does most of their manufacturing in Asia. That's not going to stop me using Apple products.

My deal is with Boss owners being hypocrites. Behringer and Boss are probably made in the same factory.

In the end, I don't actually care. What I do care about is seeing such narrow-mindedness from musicians. Boss pedals are made in China, but when people bash Chinese-made stuff, but then talk about Boss quality...um...something doesn't match up.

My guitar board will never see another boss pedal. Or a Behringer pedal. My guitar board is all boutique, cork-sniffing stuff. And my bass board is going all Source Audio.

This thread, though, is about being Pro Behringer, something many of the posters in this thread seem to have ignored.

One might wonder, then, why you are so emotional and angry over something that has no direct effect in your life.

The term "made in China" does not denote a level of quality. Like anything, it depends on the components and craftsmanship put into the equipment.

Berhinger is the low cost alternative. They use cheap parts and low-end labor to keep their costs down. Their products have a reputation for breaking early and often. No reason to get angry; it is what it is. They fit a certain niche in the market.

Very True. All my bass amps are made in China. As far as quality of build I think my Genz Benz gear is fantastic.

I don't think I've ever seen the term "boss quality" on these pages. To me, Boss' level of suck just isn't quite as high as Behringer's. Why are Boss owners hypocrites? I don't get it. For using pedals made in China? So....Boss sucks because they do this, but Behringer is brilliant. You've lost me on quite a few levels.

Oh, and most of the stuff on my board was made by EBS. There's also some Tech 21, a Sparkle Drive, and a fabulous chorus made by my neighbor. I couldn't tell you where any of them (except the last one) were made. I just know they sound good, are reliable, and work for me. So, botique, I am not.

I have that exact same head to practice at home so i dont risk lugging around a heavy Ampeg. But im really impressed by the head. So much, in fact, that i occasionaly use that instead of the Ampeg! just for like little shows here and there. But i run it through a Behringer 4x10 Bass Cab at my house and two ampeg 8x10's when i play live. It was my first head and its sad to say i might be selling it so i can get money for my bands first tour next month.. but i HIGHLY reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a quality cheap head!!:bassist:

Chesse, to me, it is neither bad nor good for pedals to be made in China. I have always understood that the location of manufacturer has little to do with quality, it is the quality control enforced that makes the difference. Crappy stuff can be made in China as easily as America or Germany or anywhere else.

It was Modulus that brought up how Behringer supposedly "forced" companies like Boss to move manufacture to China. Why would he bring this up, except to put down Chinese production of electronics?

My dislike of Boss pedals is borne of two bad pedals in a row. So much for QC. My boutique stuff has been flawless from day 1. As has my Behringer EQ pedal. And USB interface. And mixer board. And my Bass V-Amp Pro until I broke a button -- bass case vs. small electronic item = victory for bass case.

Go back and read my post 305. I don't use cheap junk made in China. If you ever start playing for money maybe you will change your tune.

I have basses that cost me $5k+, yet my big rig consists of....
A two channel B* tube preamp
Two 5 band fully parametric B* EQ's
A two Channel B* Compressor
A B* dsp 8024 RTA/eq
A B* 2 channel xover
A Peavey cs1000x

Here in oz, we pay more for low end stuff than stateside folk pay for Ampeg (hyperbole intended), so Behringer gets some sales. I have pieced together a rig that has two very flexible channels (one for fretted, one for fretless) and it has not let me down in over 2 years, I also have some Boss pedals, a Line 6 Bass Pod Pro and an AI Focus. The Line 6 is missing two lines of its lcd display and the high Z input of the AI has broken...

How many people here bagging Behringer have actually owned and gigged with their stuff?????

Hey what about the other way around. Many companies are totally litigious and will sue another company for some very petty things. In the end this ends up costing consumers. I won't name names, just that I have not read anywhere where The Music Group has filed lawsuits against other companies.

I've had a Behringer BXR4500 for about five years now. I run it thru a Carvin 410 mostly. When we play a bigger place I add a Carvin 210. I'm playing a Peavey Grindbass V thru it. I love the way this amp sounds. My gear is all low end, but I like the tone I get out of my gear.........so there's the bottom line. I like this sound better than the SWR SM900 and Workingman's tower I was playing thru for a while. It's all easier to cart around too. When all is said and done at the end of the day what counts is if my gear makes me happy. It does.
