Old old old lawsuits and they weren't found guilty. Find something new. It's just as easy to say Mackie settled because Behringer was going to counter sue and Mackie knew they didn't have a chance. We'll never Know! There is no public evidence that Behringer stole anything. Innocent until proven guilty. Thank gawd for civilization.

Seriously, you guys who are bashing their quality, what do you do to them? Throw them off buildings? Play underwater? I have 3 (plastic) Behringer pedals, a Behringer amp, one of my bands has a Behringer P.A. and mixer, another guy I know has another Behringer P.A., and guess what? They all work fine, and being 17-19 year old kids, most of them have been abused. I don't even know what you guys are talking about...

First off, in a civil lawsuit you are not found guilty, you are found liable. Second, if a lawsuit settles, the settlement usually stipulates that neither side concedes liability, and there is no determination of liabilty by the trier of fact (judge or jury). Third, the terms of settlement agreements of this type (non-class-action) are seldom made public; in fact, many settlements stipulate that if any party discloses the terms of the settlement, they must pay sanctions to the other. Finally, Mackie and Behringer settled the case out of court, and it's a safe bet that Behringer paid money to get Mackie off their back.

Just using them, dude. Folks around here want to talk about tube watts to ss watts... What about Behringer watts to Peavey watts or Yamaha watts or Mackie watts?

My Behringer PA works fine too, but cuts out a lot earlier than the Yamaha PA I had the pleasure of using before the owner took it from my nearly cold, dead, hands. Kidding, but the Yamaha was way louder, also rated at 300W (@8Ohms), and the limiter never kicked in the entire time we used it.

Just because something "works" doesn't mean it's "good".

Acutally they have settled in suits with other companies besides Loud.
They also got busted for putting CE and UL designations on gear that was never even sent to be rated.

Old old lawsuits - not found liable.
And no public knowledge either way. Nothing to bet on. I can have my own theory. if Mackie cared they would have followed through. No Behringer mixers were pulled off the market. "It's a safe bet Mackie had no case."

No matter how many other companies are sued, and settle, it seems to be no one cares, Just if Behringer was one of the parties then it's everybody's business. Hasn't seem to have hurt Behringer sales and growth at all.

well spend your money any way you see fit, but i dislike behringer's business model of finding products that sell, reverse engineering them using cheap parts they buy by the ton, making them look very much like the products they rip off but with just enough changes to be legal, then undercutting the originals while claiming their products are just as good when they're not. so i vote with my dollars and i choose not to use their stuff or support that kind of business model.

Behringer PA equipment is pretty solid for the most part. I use it for small gigs and practices. Not great stuff, but it does the job.
I love love LOVE my Truth 3031A monitors. I can get a really nice mix going with these things.
As for amps and cabs, I would never buy one, because they just don't have that clean tone that I love. Furthermore, I've heard stories of the speakers blowing relatively easily.
That being said, if it works for you, go for it. Just give it some time before you make a judgment on their reliability. I used to think my GK goldlines were pretty awesome...then I touched my first SWR megoliath...

I've had an Ultrabass 1200X since about 2002. I blew one up mucking around with effects in my first month - I can't remember what I did exactly but it was my fault. They replaced the whole amp without a complaint and it took about three weeks all up. I've had the replacement since then and it's got me through some pretty big gigs, including two years at a university music school.

I play a Warwick six stringer, so that might be why I can't complain about sound quality, but I have not played through another amp and really felt it was worth dishing out a thousand bucks for.

The only problem with my Behringer amp is that most bassists and guitarists are gear snobs...

I don't know what you mean by "If Mackie cared, they would have followed through." As one who has settled tens of lawsuits (both as a plaintiff and as a defendant) there are many things that must be considered. I have settled suits in which my firm had no liability, but the settlement was much less than the cost to take the case to trial and throw the decision to a panel of lay people. In my business, less than five percent of lawsuits go to trial.

My bet is that Behringer assessed the cost to go to trial, the risk of a judgement in Mackie's favor, and the amount Mackie was willing to accept not to try the case.

I'm also pretty sure you've never been a party to a lawsuit, based on your comments.

You forgot that they are such bunch of losers that they sometimes will try to name their products as close as they can to the original. I have a Mackie Onyx mixer. So Behringer comes out with the Xenyx mixer.:rolleyes: What is a Xenyx? I guess we can give Behringer a thumbs up for inventing their own word.:D Bottom line is they sell musical gear to the cheap and the clueless.
