Pro Behringer!

I've had the Behringer BX3000t and still have a Behringer BX4500h. The only negative thing I can say about them is the speakon output failed on the BX3000t, but it also had 1/4" outputs that worked fine.

I originally bought the BX3000t as a backup for another amp. (Not sure which...had a ton of them) These amps have always been reliable, and I dig the tone..thick, warm and punchy. Sounded great with the Aguilar GS212, SWR Goliath and WorkingMan cabs, and Ashdown ABM cabs. Sounds phenomenal with my Hartke Hydrive 410 cabs.

On the flip side, I didn't care for the sound of these amps when paired with Behringer cabs, Ashdown Mag Series cabs, or the Fender Pro 215.

I've had a ton of amps: Acoustic Image, Aguilar, Ampeg, Ashdown, Carvin, GK, Hartke, Peavey, Sunn (ok that was better, lol) and SWR. I keep going back to the Behringer because I like the sound. The low cost was never a reason to purchase the amp..but it's certainly a plus.

As I stated above, both amps have always been reliable...never shut down...I once has an Aggie fail at a gig...embarrassing but I suppose it happens. Tone is always subjective with everyone. I like it and it works great me.

Edit: I will add that I do not like the DI on these amps. No worries though, I use a Radial DI that sounds great. Also, I think these amps sound a lot better in a live setting. To me ears, they sound a bit honky when played at home, but they seem to sit well in the mix.

Cheers

I'm also pretty sure you've never been a party to a lawsuit, based on your comments.

Correct, not me. What's that got to do with anything?

But from those who I know have been a party in a lawsuit, sometimes it's not the money but the principle of the thing. The money in this case was worth more than the principle. And everything is secret.
We'll never know because there's no public knowledge. Yet it gets retried in these threads all the time.

if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, i've found that it's usually a duck.

Just sayin' ... as one who has been a party to many lawsuits and an expert witness in over 200, it's clear to me you don't know how lawsuits work. Mackie is in business to make money (that is, to enhance the wealth of their shareholders). The shareholders would not sit still while management pisses a million dollars in legal costs down a rathole just to play in a crap-shoot. In business, sometimes you have to set principals aside to avoid losing your ass.

Mackie's own comments about the suit were that both parties were happy with the settlement. To me that means that Mackie got some money and Behringer was glad it wasn't more.

Sorry dude - I think you're half right and half wrong. Behringer makes some okay products but your odds of getting a good one are a roll of the dice. The question is whether the price of what you're interested in is low enough to offset a potential dog? Some people say yes and some say no

I've never purchased Behringer gear, because I, too, disagree with their business model. I don't want to support a business I don't agree with ethically.

I have, however, used gear of theres in the past at various times. An old practice room we used to rent provided a backline, guy who owned it was obviously a guitar player - had this wall of amazing guitar amps, and nothing but Behringer bass gear. Every few weeks without exception, you'd walk in and see a different Behringer head or cab, it would've saved him a fortune to just buy a somewhat reliable bass backline. Having seen the reliability issues firsthand, I sure as hell don't want take that risk while I'm in the middle of a tour. Things get rattled about between vans, boats and planes. I don't have the faith in Behringer to stand up to that.

My lead guitarist has a little Behringer mixer and, as long as he leaves it home, I'm good with it. If he brought a Behringer stomp-box to practice though, I'd pack up and leave.

"Behringer" is just a big cog in yet a bigger business machine

Why is it people think Mackie are the good guys in some old lawsuit - Mackie shutdown a whole factory of generational employees making Ampeg in the US - for what? To do the same thing as B*, only not succeed?

umm, let's see, their complete lack of customer service, coupled with the unreliability of their equipment, plus their misleading advertising, all combine to make me dislike Behringer.

I think Behringer is German for "Reverse-Engineering". That being said they make some pretty good products, their bass gear not being one of them (in my opinion anyway). I have played them off and on since they came out at Guitar Center and really (REALLY) don't care for the tone and have heard horror stories about their speaker cones coming apart and other issues (sometimes from the sales guys at GC).
However my band uses a behringer board, power amps and compressors and feedback destroyers. It works pretty well but the engineering mostly came from the ethos... (or some other companies designs)

loud also got hammered hard for moving ampeg. but the idiot that did it to them got fired by the stockholders and the new guys are trying to undo the damage, and they sure as hell make a much better product, so they don't get so hammered anymore.
