It is interesting that this conversation is going on while the "why do people hate multi-effect pedals" is also going on. Our sort of unique approach at Source Audio is to take a key theme and then express this in lots of different flavors all in one pedal (with lots of tweaking and saving options). It is neither single effect not multi-effect. With that said, we put in lots of time and energy into making each flavor have its own special characteristics. We want customers to be able to find their own sound, and we also want to make pedals that are really fun to explore over time. Note that the Multiwave is intended to be more "modern" tones, while our Classic Distortion is intended to be more "traditional" distortion tones (such as mild tube overdrive). We do not (yet) offer one pedal that does both.

I guess what I am saying is that this pedal can do many cool things, but it CANNOT do it all.

I'm not experienced enough with tube amps to make a judgement. My shot from the hip response is the only thing that sounds like tube overdrive is overdriven tubes. To me the normal distortions sound more like a smooth creamy buttery fuzz. The best feature piece for those normal distortions are the EQ and the Blend.

As far as Multi-effects,....I consider the Soundblox stuff to be closer to the Line6 4 stomp modelers (DL-4, MM-4, FM-4, DM-4) then the more "do it all" stuff. I know that the Soundblox pedals aren't modelers but they function quite similar and you can see at least a little inspiration if only subconscious on Source Audio's part.

Since I found out about the MWBD Pro I've always wanted one.
It's cool to compare it to the Line 6 stompbox modelers but I think the Source Audio pedals have more depth to their sounds and their parameters.

I was really impressed when I saw the demo video... that's when I decided I had to have it.
I'm a fan of synthy distortions and the synth sounds you can get from this box are redonkulous.

It is interesting. On this board (and it seems with bass players in general) there seems to be a much more adventurous spirit than we encounter in the guitar effects community. It helps to keep us motivated in an ocean of Tube Screamer clones. Thank you all!!!

I waiting for the Rusty Box i ordered to decide the fate of my MWBD. I love the crazy stuff it can do, but also think everything is pretty synth-y that it creates. I like to run it into my envelope filter/s and then a chorus for some real magic.

The pedal is quite picky (imo) about being "in front of" other pedals. While I like to put it in-front of the envelope filter, following it is a non-desirable sound. Personal experience may vary, of course, but even only with a preamp pedal it gets weird.

"Weird" can really only be described once you get to play with a pedal in your signal chain. There are warbles and peaks and crazy things that you want to learn more about

I already got this Soundblox Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro. This inherits the power and clarity of the original Soundblox Multiwave Distortion and adapts it to the unique frequency range of the bass guitar. I have a problem with this pedal, it seems that the bypassing does not work correctly. I can switch the saved sounds with the three buttons correctly, but i can not switch the pedal off/to bypass by any means. If i press the button again the light is switched off and the volume is a little lower, but it still distorts. For now i work around this problem by using a clean setting, however even this setting is not by any means like when i completely bypass the pedal by using my Boss LS-2. Is something wrong with the pedal?

How do i factory reset it? The (otherwise very good) manual has no info on that part.

That being said, the sounds i get from the pedal are very good. It does that synthlike distortion perfectly, my favorite settings are the multiwave octave sounds.

Clicking the presets until the lights are off should bypass the unit. One thing you might want to do is set your first preset to a clean EQ boost, and set the fourth one to normal distortion, so you can morph between clean and fuzz, and leave the pedal on all the time. Also, I was pretty sure there was something in the manual about wiping the presets out. In the BEF Pro manual, it's the last page.

i will check that this evening, thanks for answers so far!

One question concerning daisy chaining for the hot hand: i have a HH wireless and a BEF incoming, should arrive here next week. The cable to daisy chain the HH from BEF to MWBD is not available in germany. What kind of cable do i need here? A normal stereo audio cable won't do i guess? like this:

I have one and love it. It is my first pedal ever.

I wanted to use a digital piano's sustain pedal in the expression jack. My Roland one wouldn't work. The Yamaha one did, but wouldn't change the light all the way from one color to another. I have another pedal you can switch polarities on and it had the same problem. How do I use a sustain pedal to switch all the way from green to red or vice versa for just like a quick on-off sound effect?

Anyways I use it all the time, in all kinds of different settings (the MWDP, not the sustain-pedal effect) Love it!!!!

You need to be using an expression pedal, not a sustain pedal. The Moog one works really well and is only about forty bucks.
