Help!
I need to tame my pickups.
I use EMG P- Model on my Bass. I've always been happy with these Pups until recently.
I have been using a Behringer V-Amp Pro Bass Preamp and have found that the EMGs distort when used with these PreAmp. The Behringer works perfectly with passive Pickups and has made cheap pickups sound good, but the EMGs sound a little fusszzy.
I know that the EmGs signal is low impedence @10k, and the gain is stronger then any pickup I've used.
The Behringer is expecting a 1mg ohms high impedence signal.
I guess the the behringer is intolerent of different input signals, I think this is true of all digital processors? EMG Tech supports best advice is to wire in series a 12K resistor on the signal side of the patch cord to reduce the gain. This does nothing that my ears can detect.
I guess that I need to convert the low-Z high signal to a High-Z, low gain signal. BUt I not sure and perfer to spend my time playing instead of fooling around with hardware.
