Prodigy Presets

Hello!

I am playing a prodigy through a ev mesa 2x15.

So I went through the presets and they all sound good. I would like to know a couple things from those that have live experience with this type of set up.

I like the mi stacatto but not sure how that would hold up in a live situation. Seems like a good preset for a bass solo if it had a boost.

I like the fat thump preset ... Yet I loose a bit of definition in the notes I play... But it's a nice thump..

I am using a fender p bass with rounds.
So I want to know what are your recommended resets of your go to?

Honestly, I've never used any of the suggested settings. I dialed it in to a point where it gives me the sound I want, and then it needs to be tweaked in each individual room to sound the same way.
As an example, sometimes I run the bass up around or slightly past 12:00. In other rooms I need to dial it down to 9:00 otherwise it's too boomy.

The "presets" you speak of are really just marketing hype. Just dial the amp to a sound you like, and go with it. Remember, it's usually better to "cut" than to "boost", especially in the low areas.

I am just wrapping up our review of the Prodigy/Strategy, and I am finding that the Prodigy works very well for me with little to no EQ (when using a bass that typically hits "my tone" without much help). That being said, I did notice that the Prodigy really let the unique personality of different basses shine through. I found myself switching between the Bright and Normal settings on the Input more than I expected, but that's a good thing, as both settings are very usable. I tended to favor the Voice control in 3 ("flat") most of the time, but occasionally setting 2 or 4 worked the best for me. I kept the Mids and Treble at "noon" almost always, but I did adjust the Bass to compensate for different basses - or, as mentioned above, for different rooms.

But as far as any recommended settings in a manual are concerned, I almost never refer to them, unless I am having trouble dialing in a usable tone. With the Prodigy (and Strategy), I had great tones right out of the box, so I never even looked at the suggested settings.

I'm with Tom- in my main live setup with Rickenbacker (w/ flatwounds) and 6x10 I pretty much only use the "flat" Voice (3), with a slight cut of Bass and Treble and a slight Mid boost and it sounds perfect. When I've used my P with rounds I set it even closer to flat- I also like Voice 4 a lot with the P.

I run mine #3 flat. Boost the mids quite a bit. Don't do much w the other controls Input at normal. Gain 10 o'clockish. Volume to taste. My basses have Sadowsky preamps and I tend to use the bass boost on them instead of the amp P, JJ, and pj basses

And Bergantino cabs. HS410 or AE212 depending on the size of the stage and room
