What strings do you recommend for 5 string bass to play progressive death metal? I slap and make tapping very often... I want to get a sharp, metallic sound on my both double coil humbucker pickups... I used Earnie Ball a lot but I wanna try something different.. I would like to get colorful strings (red) but my priority is sound not how it looks...

DR Hi Beams might work? They are a super bright, flexible and mid scooped string. DR Lo Riders may work better depending on how much you use tapping in your technique.

I suggest trying Elixirs. They are very bright and metallic sounding plus they stay that way for a long while. The B string is very full of harmonic content, more than any other B I have tried. They are a higher tension string and they do ok with drop tunings, if you drop to A I suggest the .135.

They are expensive but the new tone lasts a very long time. I prefer the nickel over the steel for the extra mid presence.

By all accounts they should be, but it would be worth an email to the company if you are truly concerned. They are a newer company so I do not believe they were ever involved in animal intestine string production.

Your going to get everyone's personal preferences here. Mine are Pro steels. Dr High beams are great also.
