There was a big resurgence of prog in the 80s in the UK. Try Marillion, Pallas, Twelfth Night, IQ, Abel Ganz, Pendragon, The Enid. The bass players for the first four are particularly good. AFAIK, Marillion and IQ are still going. Not sure about the rest.

Very overlooked band! I recently replaced their live Carnegie Hall album with the remastered CD, excellent stuff.
