Project Completed!! Thoughts?

I just finished a Fender Musicmaster I was putting together and wanted to share it with you guys. I'm pretty excited how it turned out. This was my first full start-to-finish project. I wanted a shortscale to play around on and liked the idea of a musicmaster over a mustang (more unique looking, cheaper parts, easier/more options to mod).

Well here she is:
-'76 Musicmaster Neck (with original tuners)
-'78 Musicmaster Body (white)
-Semour Duncan SCPB-3 Quarterpound Pickup and CTS pots
-Badass II Bridge
-Dazbootman (ebay) white pearloid guard

Any thoughts? I also have the original '78 black pickguard and haven't really decided which i like more on it.

Looks great!

Even in great shape and 100% stock, it is very hard to sell a 1970's Musicmaster bass for much more than $500 anyways. Not like you are modding a $5000 Jazz or Precision! So why not make it giggable?

My 1974 looked good and sounded good in my basement but the telecaster pickup was really weak in the mix. Also, the bridge was garbage. I sold mine for about what I paid for it a few mont ago, but now wish I kept it. Looked exactly like yours.

Enjoy it and let us know how it sounds with a band!

Great concept.
I really like the scpb3 pickup, I bet it sounds wonderful in that.
thanks! i had to clip down the edges of the pup so it would fit under the pup cover. But after replacing it i was shocked how boomy the bass sounded. its crazy to think this sound is coming out of such a tiny bass...its as though i think im playing but really there's someone behind me is playing a p bass.

Love the color/PG combo, nice work.
Is it me, or does the bridge look cockeyed?
i was really worried about that, but i am almost positive its an optical illusion. the pup is a bit crooked due to a poor job by the pickguard manufacturer. I think the slightly diagonal pickup makes it look as thought the bridge is off. but im pretty sure it isnt. any way to check?

Diggin' it. It does look like the bridge is rotated a couple of degrees clockwise. I was comparing the strings to the saddle channels. If you snapped a pic looking straight down at the bridge the alignment (or non-alignment) may be more apparent. It's still a cool bass!

just using the photo, i'm alighning a straightedge with the top of the bridge and comparing that to the 19th fret and it's definitely slanted down on the G string side.

yup you're right. it is off. the funny thing about it is that i had the bridge installed by a tech (since i didnt have the tools). Kind of ridiculous since they charged kind of a lot for doing it. i dropped it off yesterday to show them. They are going to readjust it i think. im wondering if i could get a discount on the labor since i've been having to cart it all over the place and now there is going to be a completely unnecessary 5-set of holes in the body.
