PRS SE basses!

Agreed. I have two SEs that I use in my studio.

Bought used, the singlecut came modded with Gibson PAF style (I believe they're DiMarzio Tone Zones). I replaced the bridge pickup in the Santana with a Seymour Duncan SH-10. Great guitars! I can only think that the SE basses will be similar in quality.

Beautiful! I love their singlecuts! Here are my 2 beauties. I swear my Angelus acoustic is on par with any high end USA acoustic within a couple grand.

I think the $750-800 price point is a winner. It's just out of my impulse buying range but not so far out that I'm going to have to live on ramen and tap water for months to buy one.

Just a note to PRS (or any other manufacturer out there) - give me a thousand dollar instrument and I won't be complaining about the board or the color or the My Little Pony inlays

In the demo video for the Kingfisher, the bass sounds terrible, the strings are squeaking and the pickups sound very thin -- like a cheap Stingray clone. It also looks like one of the new Yamaha TBX basses:

But the Kestrel does sound very nice indeed, in fact, it is one of the best sounding jazzes I have heard in a long time. Fender doesn't really have a jazz bass to compete in the same price range apart from the Geddy Lee.

I'll probably buy the Kestrel if the price was right.

Has PRS cleared the Kestrel name with Manson Guitar Works? Isn't that a model name Manson used on a bass, one that John Paul Jones uses? One that is now called the Manson E Bass John Paul Jones Signature?
