Pumped Up Kicks

Not sure if this is in the right forum, move if necessary.

My band is going to play Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People in our next gig (in like 9 days) and I was wondering what effect do you think the bass player uses and also if you would know how to model it on a Digitech BP80.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I dunno, kinda sounds like he's not really using too much in the way of effects to me. Maybe some tube compression (B15 model maybe) and a little bit of chorus would probably get you 90% of the way there IMO. Let the keyboards carry the rest.

Love this song, btw.

either way, I think I would use an octave pedal and turn the clean blend really low...maybe off, on my MXR M288 BOD I would use the girth side wide open. If you have an OC-2 or OC-3(on OC-2 mode) you could pull this off. Not sure what your multi has though...
yea, this would be my suggestion.

I love the song too, really simple to play too:bassist:

Well just like RR5025 said they don't use any effects on the bass on that song live. My band went on tour with them this summer up the west coast and he didn't use any effects for pumped up kicks. In fact the only pedals he has is a morley a/b switch which goes to his microkorgXL and a boss tuner. His bass is a 70's tele bass. That's about it.
