The price is right, and it sounds good in all the Youtube videos I have heard. Any reason I should not get this? Any common issues or lack of features I should be aware of?

Purchasing a Sansamp BDDI v2 in 2024

Fwiw, I use it exclusively, now. If the price is right, pull the trigger.
Great preamp/DI/driver. I’ve got one I just keep around because it always seems to come in handy for situations. Sound guys love them.
I just bought the V1 as my main drive! It's not the most organic, smooth, or dynamic overdrive available. But it's THE drive of the 2000s and is perfect for what I like to play. Plus, it makes the sound engineers happy.
It also sounds absolutely Massive when placed after a muff. That combo is quite possibly the heaviest tone I've gotten from my gear, and I've had some absurdly heavy stuff in the past.

I played through it for years with only a compressor before it… but now it’s my back up, all else fails plan. It is always at the ready! I’ve debated selling mine for something else but a bddi v2 can be so handy. It’s a known quantity and it’s proven. I don’t see a reason to not have one, especially if you gig with back line gear or silent stages straight to FOH.
is it the best? No… It has tons of competition nowadays. Though that is very subjective. Does it still work and sound good? Absolutely! Especially if you are playing 90’s and 2000’s tunes. It definitely has its sound… but it is a useable tool for sure.
I say go for it. A Sansamp bddi or bddi v2 is kinda like a precision bass or a jazz bass… its classic for a reason and if you haven’t, you owe it to yourself to spend some time with it.

Using mine on a regular basis, but as the Zeroamp model in my HX Effects.
have the V1 last in my chain and run my tone reaper and super bass fuzz ( bigmuff with a oct up.) there are boards available from dead end fx soon, i bought MY rare af Japanese super bass fuzz loved it and also had the intention from the start to have it cloned as my fave JP band uses both the super 88 ocilo fuzz ( switchblade DEFX) and now super bass fuzz ( low blow) are now available to the masses thanks to myself. i stack it with my fuzzes and stack my MXR DI+ with it as well.
I use the ZeroAmpBassDI in a few of my presets... with different drive levels in snapshots.
People that love them, love them. People that don’t, hate them. Choose your side wisely.
Also true… and i’m probably in the middle. I don’t know if I love it now, but I don’t hate it. truth be told a para driver v2 would probably be my choice but I already own a bddi v2 and it’s just there for backup nowadays and it’s totally useable.

Great unit. I've had the V1. Sold it a while back. I now have the programmable version. You can save 3 different settings. Love it
BDDI is the gateway drug to preamps. They are one of the most flexible tools you'll ever own for Bass.

I use the V2 straight into a power amp. I also use the original as my pocket stealth rig.
They do have a "baked in sound", a bit of a mid scoop even with everything set flat. Its not for everyone but I love it. I've used nothing else since I first played one. If a drunk "woo" girl spilled her beer into it, Id buy another (Sans Amp, not beer).
In 2024? If it was good before and it's still good, why does it matter?

Gone full circle. The grass has been pretty green for a few years, but the Sansamp BDDI is a great tool. It's my no hassel FOH partner. V2 is a great purchase. Now I want my programmable back!
I have been using SansAmps since 2005, and have been playing the BDDI V2 since 2019. I’ve tried other preamps and always come back to the BDDI V2. It’s “my” tone. It’s very versatile thanks to the Blend and Drive knobs.
It also takes drives really well, thickening and tightening them beautifully.
Is it the best? I don’t know, but for me it’s my favourite tool.
