PYPB 38: When 'a few' just isn't enough...

They actually blend well when the Character on the VT is btwn 2-3. Low gain as well. Not as good as a light OD would work though, like Dark Driving or something similar.
I use them at different times, not together. I find the Vt great for warm , mellow parts(again character at 3) and the rusty for aggresive Jesus Lizard sections. I thought about taking the vt off when i got the rusty but I like them both so much.
However, if I had to go with one. I think id keep the VT on. When you boost the character knob you get a sound similar(not the same though) to the Rusty. That charcter feature was a great idea, its one vesatile pedal

A buddy (who posts here as Snowblinder) also use the VT Bass and Rusty Box together. Sounds awesome in his rig!

Verrrry interesting... I usually have the Character knob up at 1:00-2:00 (in clock terms) with not much drive to get some of the clanky overtones but keep the bass. I'll admit it I was going for Geddy tone and found it. I run a clean hi-fi type rig now and tone it up with pedals, so I'll keep the VT regardless for Ampegyness but the Rusty may replace it on the board if it makes the tone a bit more unique.

Awesome! They're a great, great band, my band has been lucky to become labelmates with them and get to play with them several times! Always a pleasure when I get to see them play!

The Rusty kicked my VT off but even though it doesn't get as much use right now, I still won't sell my VT Bass as there are uses for it in covers. I do run the Rusty pretty clean though. To me it just makes everything sound better.
