Bass into Flip pedal which allows me to switch the order of channels A and B:

Two of the EBVP are expression pedals for the M9, the other goes into the broadcast and then the xerograph (the VP is modded to get a better sweep with the xero)

So here is the latest and so far my favorite pedalboard version. The pedals are (probably) not going to change for a while, but the order probably is going to soon. I may try and give the EBS Wah another shot and put it and the TAFM in the first loop together...but then I'd have to hit two switches for reverby volume swells....humph. We'll see.

Signal path:

Bass -> EBS Stanley Clarke Wah/Volume -> Ss/BS TAFM -> Anerican 2-Loop Switcher ->

Loop A) Digitech Bass Synth Wah -> (Loop A Return)
Loop B) Bukowski Delay -> MythFx Triton -> MSLP 18 Stage Phaser -> MXR Carbon Copy -> Iron Ether Nimbus -> (Loop B Return)

-> MXR Bass Compressor -> Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B -> Korg Pitchblack -> Radial JDI -> sFx Micro Thumpinator -> Amp

The idea here is that I have the option of delay before and after modulation, phasing and reverb (the carbon copy and the nimbus will switch places in line soon). So far it's working out pretty rad with the Bukowski set as a short slap-back style delay and the carbon copy is set for longer repeat times.

It is based on a suggestion from Taylor at Iron Ether...basically adding a pot to act as an attenuator similar to a moog ep-2 and adding a switch to taper the sweep. It makes it much easier to use with the xerograph and I can use a single trs cable instead of an insert cable.

On a similar note: does anyone know if there is such a thing as an expression attenuator/range adjustment device in a separate stompbox?

What I'm envisioning is basically a small box that goes between whatever exp. pedal and whatever effect, and lets me set input and output range (and possibly also a switch to stop the signal altogether) so that you could adjust any expression pedal to fit the range of any effect on the fly. I have a couple of different exp. pedals and some effects that respond to different resistance ranges, and it would be awesome to not have to think about what fits where without permanently modding a pedal...

you can do that already with the Expressionator. you hold down a button, move the exp pedal to lowest setting, click the button, move the expression pedal to highest setting, click the same button, you're disco. i can change the range on an output in less than 10 seconds.

and you can turn each expression input on or off. it freezes it sort of, so the effect pedal sees what the espression pedal was last set at when you turn off that output.

it's a pretty verbose set of features for such a little box.

While we’re talking expression pedals and VB-Jr mods, I am thinking of buying a bunch of the appropriate pots and offering the mod for a small fee. To save on shipping the heavy bits, as long as you’re comfortable restringing it I really only need the internals (back plate/assembly + pot/pulley/support assembly).

If I use a 10k pot, it can be wired with 2 jacks and a switch for operation as a voltage divider (most applications, TRS cable) or variable resistor (Line 6, TS cable). I guess I can even do that with 1 jack but a separate jack for TS operation makes it less likely that you hook it up wrong and mess something up.

Alternatively I can do it with a 50k pot (like a Moog EP-2) with or without range knob and/or polarity reversal. This will work better with some expression controlled pedals that are picky about pot value.

For anything fancy I still recommend the Expressionator for multiple outputs , setting ranges, different tapers, etc. though it’s worth noting that either of the above modded versions work well with the Expressionator.

Here's my mini-board, used only for some minor touches and precision mids management for my 5 string electric bass rig. The Bobtone is first, it's a BYOC Parametric EQ kit I built. Then comes a true bypass pedal w/LED I built from scratch (I thought the In-Out Burger logo was appropriate); its loop brings the Sonic Stomp and compressor into the circuit when needed. The Plant Waves tuner is at the tail.

The board is a light hunk of birch plywood cut to fit into a very old laptop carry bag. Power comes from a cut down circuit bar from a larger board I had.

The parametric EQ just refines the response to "my reference sound"; I went from 10+ years with a Euphonic Audio iAMP800 to a Genz Benz Streamliner 900, the latter of which does not have the four band semi-parametric the EA had, and while I love the GB I missed the fine tuning ability.

The BBE is just a sort of a preset, when I want the voice it offers for certain songs. I'm still experimenting with everything. I haven't used any processors in quite some time, my primary bass has that 3 band Bart preamp with three mid freq choices, which does put a lot at your fingertips.

Your setup is, as always, freakin awesome. With that bypass looper and the Schism, your options must be pretty wild! I like that you DIY some stuff too, that relay box is genius!
