PYPB 38: When 'a few' just isn't enough...

I really like the industrial perfed-metal construction of that board

...which I guess prompts the obvious question:

What's the best metal for metal?

End of day one progress of the great pedal board rebuild...

The layout (This took ages to settle on)...

And under the upper tier...

All the powering going in and all the power cables cut to length (still to be cable tidied at the end!)...

Waiting on a GigRig Isolator to arrive to power a few of them (hoping it'll arrive tomorrow) but other than that it's powered. Tomorrow, 9am, patch cabling begins :)

Yea mate the are GigRig Distributors, powered by the Generator. All part of the GigRig Modular Power System...

http://www.thegigrig.com/

I've used the system for a while. It powers my entire board (other that the MP-201) off a single plug! If you have any questions about it, let me know!

looks kinda tricky. so you use one of the generators then plug all the distributors into it?

The generator is a super powerful supply (like an uber power station).

The distributors are basically alternative daisy chains. Rather than having a string of plugs, you have a little box with cut-to-length cables/plugs for each pedal. Achieves the same job... But much tidier and hey can handle more mA.

They do a range of adapters to up the voltage, isolate pedals, change polarity etc etc if you need them for odd pedals. Eg. They do a 9v to 24v adapter of you have the old EHX Bass MicroSynth. The only thing it doesn't do (at the mo) is AC pedals.

let me guess. they cost alot?

Yes.

The Generator is about the biggest (I'm terms of available juice) on the market, as well as being tiny (compared to the likes of Flatliners etc)... And the technology comes with a price.

When you get to some of the little power convertors etc the cost is pretty high. The cost of the full power set up to my board is pretty scary. But then it does have 4 times more pedals than most boards.

In my experience you get what pay for. I've had a lot of power supplies over the years and I don't regret blowing some serious money on the GigRig. I guess that means I'm happy with it and it's damn good. Dan's after service is pretty amazing as well, tweaking adapters and stuff as needed for free, no questions asked.

my generator, 2 distrubutors, and an evenflo came in last week, and my mounting brackets for my pt-3 came in today. fantastic customer service, the pedaltrain brackets aren't even on the U.S. store page and they found a way to get them to me without having to pay international shipping. Dan even offered the brackets free of charge with my generator order but it had already shipped (a week earlier than the 2 week wait it says on the web site). I can't wait to get everything mounted and wired up so i can post my gigrig powered board.

yeah. if i was gigging regularly, especially traveling bunches, i would look into a Gigrig system. they get nothing but amazing praise and look the BIDNESS.

oof. Jean's board is hot fire, Waters's's's's is angry angry love and Panther's is silly big redunkulous.

MEOW.
