Damn auto correct in mobile phones. It's supposed to be 'it will be a surprise" and it wrote' it will email a surprise" LOL!

Yeah... I was trying to text my girl one time that she was a "bad woman", as in kidding... What my droid thought I swiped was that she was a "fat woman"... Because I was half watching a movie at the time, I only noticed it after I hit send! EEEK! Man I didn't hear the end of that for a while.:D

Here is my latest configuration.

My lady friend is trying out the Schism on her board, so I'm going single channel for a bit. Back to my pedal board roots.

in > B3K > BMC > TFR > Faye Sing > Timeline > SubD > VP-Jr > out

Still using the Mesa M9 to amplify this goodness through a PH210, 8ohms @ 450w.

The SA Dual Expression pedal is controlling the Timeline (time) and the Faye Sing (rate/sweep).
The BMC is used in conjunction with the B3K to produce my basic heavy grinding sound; otherwise I'm clean through to the Sub Designer.
The TFR is my distortion effect of choice (sooo heavy), so it works all by it's self when it's on, unless I throw in the Faye Sing for some sweeping weirdness (which I do).
The Timeline does all the delay/reverb stuff I need (not a ton of reverbesque settings, but plenty for my tastes).

Been wanting to 'simplify' for a while. I'll see how long it lasts. :smug:

Understood on time, for sure.

For a long time I was of the mindset that I wanted my sound as clean as possible, but things change of course... I've been finding ways to warm up my tone (like switching from Hartke aluminum cones to traditional 10's, then to 12's and on to 15's) and now I'm an overdrive connosseiur as well. I've tried 17 overdrives and still own 11 of them. Lol. I'm happiest with a nice warm "just barely there" overdrive to vintage up my tone. Could never get into fuzz though, couldn't get the effect to work for me and don't have a need for THAT much dirt anyway. ;)

If you're interested, I'd be happy to contribute what I know about overdrives... Always love talking about gear!

So what's your favorite "barely there" or lighter OD? and give us your connosseiur thoughts on it if you don't mind...;)

Hmmmm...that's intensely awesome.

Any thoughts on the Geiger VS the Franta?

I've only had both for less then a week and just got the board together today( 6 long hours of wiring!!...I'm slow at life lol). I've also never had a bit crusher before so I'm kinda a nOoB when it comes to them.

That being said I feel they both do what they advertise very well. I think I'll be using the frantabit for regular sample rate reduction sounds ect. The Geiger Counter is much more of a distortion, but a ridiculous one at that!! It can do alot of the sounds the Frantabit can do but it excels at big loud and crazy. 250+ wavetables...endless possibilites. One thing that gives the Frantabit a big plus for me is the Mix knob. With the expression pedal set on Mix it becomes a very useful effect to sprinkle in here and there.

I pretty sure both will be on the board for a long time :bassist:

my WM just arrived in the mail today, been playing around with it for the past hour and i love it. what a wonderful girlfriend, buying it for me!

as you can see i haven't wired it up yet, i'm waiting on a voltage doubler to arrive so that i can give the compressor a bit of extra headroom. should be done in the next week or so :)

That's a tough call, which is why I still have as many overdrives as I do. I guess it would have to depend on my mood, but here are my top favs:

Tubeworks BlueTube It's a killer tube-based overdrive that includes a 3-band EQ, which can really help dial in a variety of sounds. It's not quite as touch sensitive as other overdrives, but that makes it a bit more predictable at the same time (if that makes sense). Definitely the warmest overdrive I own, but it's also the only one I have that has an actual tube in it. I swapped in a 12AU7 for the 12AX7, which upped it's ability for subtle. It smoothed out the overdrive and made the drive knob more usable for me. Probably my "if you could only choose one" overdrive.

Catalinbread SFT Another of my top choices for subtle and another great "Motown" overdrive. This one sits squarely in between the BlueTube and B3K in pretty much all aspects... warmth, touch sensitivity and aggressiveness. Does an Ampeg B-15 sound really well, which is why I bought it. :)

Darkglass B3K It's not as warm as the BlueTube or SFT, but it still adds a certain... something (fatness?)... while still managing to sound startlingly like my overdriven 1974 Ampeg V4B. The Darkglass is pretty touch sensitive, you can set the gain a little higher than with other overdrives to get some mild grind when you dig in, but it still cleans up pretty well when just by using a lighter touch. It's cleaner than the Tubeworks (if you can say that about an overdrive) and I've used it as a clean boost once or twice. It can do subtle quite well, but can get quite aggressive when cranking the drive knob. Sidenote: cops a great Vicarious (Tool) sound!

All three are great overdrives for getting just a touch of grit when I dig in and play, which is generally how I use overdrive across the board.
