PYPB 43

I schlep this to all gigs and rehearsals with my cover band (mostly blues and classic rock and a sprinkling of other styles), but use effects quite sparingly. Other than compression and overdrive I try to sneak in some color maybe for an intro or bridge. A few funkier numbers can take a little more. A few years ago I played in another band that was dance and pop oriented where there was more room for different sounds. And I fool around with it at home. I guess this pedalboard is a hobby all of its own.

It's an embodiment of the term "overkill".
I've seen worse. :)
Good looking board. I really like the Empress Comp, in my board it's become indespensible.

Yeah Fret, your board is an inspiration of effects taste, layout style and DIY'ness.

Is that arm a hydrolic lift holding the upper tier?

I just got my Schism back from Robert at Badger. He tuned it up nicely, so my board is back to full(ish) again. I'm waiting for the weather to get better (and some free time) so I can make some clones to fill more space with.

Thanks!

Nothing that hi-tech to hold the upper tier up ... it's a small screwdriver I jammed in there. :)

Good thought though, it would be nice to have some kind of support built-in. Sounds like a project for the holidays.

Schism tuneup??

Schism tuneup??

Oh yeah he did that for me free of charge when I had mine. Really good guy. He replaced a few parts upgraded some other things on it.

Yep and yep.

Basically I was having unity gain issues. With both channels buffered but bypassed, I was getting a noticeable volume increase with the main switch on; adding the Hyperdrive before the Schism (which I've been doing lately) makes it even more pronounced.

The Schism is supposed to be a unity gain when bypassed, even with both channels buffered. Adding channel 3 increases gain though, but I wasn't doing that.

Anyway, I emailed Badger Effects about it and after some Q/A and double checking inside on my part (and not seeing anything obviously wrong) he had me send it to him. Since the only way for him to really fix the issue was to start pulling and replacing resisters one by one (and stating he wouldn't want an effect in that condition himself) he just replaced the entire circuit board! While he was at it, he changed two capacitors to make it more bass friendly. Not a huge change, since it was already very bass friendly. Like 1 to 1.5 kinda change. He also swapped the Channel 3 switch from large size to the same smaller size as the others. I kinda preferred the larger size, but I'm certainly not gonna complain. I don't really switch it on and off that often, and the smaller switch does make it more uniform in height.

Yeah, Badger effects is one of my top 5 favorite small effects companies for sure. Very high quality work, and outstanding customer service. :bassist:

The Schism has been high on my watch list for a long while, and hearing there's that kind of customer support doesn't hurt.

Interesting about the mods, I'll keep that in mind, maybe they would make the same mods for a new order.

He switched out the older circuit board for a new one, so mine is the latest version. I'm guessing all the mods he did are included in the newest edition Schism, but yeah, send him an email before ordering to be sure.

Thanks for the info .... Not having any issues like that with mine.
all my switches were already same size ... H'mm ... guess mine is a little later version than yours.

Yeah the Schism is a "must have" pedal for me at this point ... no effects on bass without it :) honestly I don't see how anyone uses dirt or fuzz on bass without some kind of dry blend.

Here's my board! Pedaltrain 3, with plenty of room to grow. Just added the Joyo Ultimate Drive this morning, thanks to the wife.

I have 2 X2 Wireless receivers, only because I found a good deal on a bodypack/receiver set when all I needed was an extra bodypack. From the wireless, it goes to the Compressore, the Joyo, then to a Digitech BSW, which I use for one song only (Ginuwine, Pony). Next is the M5, which I use for octave, boost and filter (for now). Then comes my trusty Pitchblack, then my ABY box I modded to be only an AB box. I use this to switch between bass and my Roland Gaia synth. I mounted a metal plate on the front of the Pedaltrain and installed 2- 1/4" jacks. One goes to the A side of the switcher, the other comes from the switcher and goes to the amp. It allows me to plug in my synth and output cables so they're out of the way.

Everything (including the Compressore) is powered by a Voodoo Lab 4x4. I have the comp taking up 2-12v outputs via a current doubler, the M5 has it's own 9v, 400mA output, and the rest of my pedals are daisy-chained out of the other 9v, 400 mA out, leaving me with 4- 9v, 100mA outs to use in the future.

My current search is for a Source Audio BEF Pro. After that, I may be satisfied for a while!
