PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

Opinion about the Palmer Junction as a speaker sim DI ?

I'm not going to be able to produce any quantitative results to prove my opinion. I LOVE it though! I mainly play through headphones at home and it kills a lot of the white noise and other junk associated with dirt pedals in the extreme upper register. Some would say that it is too this or that but it is a must have for headphones. It's not a Jensen transformer, so there are a lot of naysayers out there. I don't think a DI should be transparent, but YMMV. Plus they're relatively cheap.

Thanks. Now on my GAS list. I'll try to compare it with the VT DI.

Here's the current state of my board, mid-rebuild.

Looks more compact. Has your board size changed since your last post? Looks good.

Yeah , just had this one made for me, it's 28"X22" vs the last one which was 40" X 20", this will be so much more gig friendly!
Best part is it nests in my monster board:smug:

Chain is Bass -> Bypass Looper (Fifth Element Earth etch) -> TurboTuner (Metroid II) -> Amp

Loop order is Octabass (Tecmo Bo Jackson) -> Grey Stache (Fifth Element Water) -> Fuzzrocious Demon (Fifth Element Fire) -> Blackeye Effects Palmetto Boost (Fifth Element Wind) -> Dispatch Master (TARDIS) -> Polytope

All etches by Handsome Beard Etching. All rehousing work by Top Dog Effects (i.e. my father and I).

Source Audio Hot Hand 3 (BEF-PRO,Orbital and/or Alter Ego)
Pokeball (Acid Splash Design latching footswitch for "Lucky 113")
Heet Sounds Plus-EBOW
Dunlop Chrome slide

Moved a few things around and even with many attempts looks like the BeatBuddy dual foot-switch won't fit.The empty spot between the RC-2 and Alter Ego is for the BeatBuddy. It MIGHT fit underneath but according to the measurements on their website it won't, but we shall see!Now that I've had the Alter Ego for about a week it has a permanent spot on this board (the Space Echo alone is worth it to me! EVERY delay sounds awesome though, that TR Organ is becoming new new fave). Thinking about switching the expression control on the BSY-600 for the Source Audio BEF-PRO to get a good Wah out of it....back to the board!

Here's is my bass overview of the Alter Ego X4

"Ankle surgery, can't lug around my PT Pro, brought only the essentials to worship band this morning" board.

Empress and B7K always on. M5 used for noise gate and tuner. I experimented with some HH3-controlled Octoverb at Wednesday night practice but I ultimately ditched it for this morning.

Your Grey Stache is missing a knob. What's up with that?

The etched enclosure only had three holes drilled when I bought it (this is a rehoused pedal). I haven't had time to make more holes for the other hardware, which is just shoved back in the enclosure and wrapped in electrical tape for now. I always leave the Stache in tone bypass mode, so the mids and tone knobs don't do anything anyway.

Sick pedalboard as always, maybe it's time to get a second board :)

Two quick questions, have you used a DL4 and if so how would you compare it the the Flashback and how easy is the boss loopier to use?

Cheers, Sam.

Thanks for the compliment and no second board I purposefully use this board and follow the rule of if it can't fit on there then I don't need it. Don't feel too deprived!

Never used a DL-4, and the Boss looper is easy to use if you have good foot coordination (much better with a dual foot-switch or with it modded to have the switches on it; that's the plan to get it modded).
